This five-disc box collects Reinhardt's first 124 recordings between 1934-1939. Curiously enough, these sides aren't chronological. Rather, while each disc's featured sessions are presented mostly chronologically, the discs themselves are rather awkwardly sequenced, with different discs covering different years in a seemingly random order. That doesn't really detract from the set's appeal, however, as this music is terrific no matter how it's presented. If there is a flaw, it's that the remastering isn't nearly as superb as the fawning front-cover quotation would lead one to believe. To his credit, however, Kendall admits that he has attempted no "enhancement" of the sound, but has instead concentrated on clearing away much of the audio rubble. His work is, in fact, generally excellent - especially on the later sides, many of which are virtually devoid of hiss…

Vrooom Vrooom includes much of the same frenetic energy and immaculate sonics that awaited attendees of these performances. Happily much of the repertoire focuses on materials from the 1995 studio release, Thrak, King Crimson's first in over a decade. Born of a friendship formed at London's Royal College of Music over 10 years ago and boasting a discography of seven recordings, the Busch Trio takes its name from the legendary Adolf Busch, whose G.B. Guadagnini violin Mathieu van Bellen has the honour of playing. Van Bellen and the Epstein brothers — Omri on piano and Ori on cello — now launch their ambitious project of recording the complete Beethoven piano trios. The first instalment contains the Op. 1 trios (Nos. 1 and 3), the first compositions by the young Beethoven who had left his native Bonn to study with Haydn in Vienna in 1792. Although Beethoven did not write a concerto for a wind instrument, he did compose a great deal of chamber music for them, including the Trio in B flat for piano, clarinet and cello (1798), although designing it so that the clarinet part could also be performed on the violin. The playful theme of the variations in the finale earned the trio its nickname, "Gassenhauer"; (street or folk song).

It's easy to argue that Willie Nelson's two albums for Atlantic, 1973's Shotgun Willie and 1974's Phases and Stages, are his two best albums. Recorded between his 1972 departure from his longtime home RCA and before his star-making stint at Columbia, these two albums are the roots of Nelson's brand of outlaw country, where he casually fueled Nashville songwriting with Texan Western swing, pop melodies, folk storytelling, hard country, lazy blues, and a renegade sensibility borrowed from rock & roll, all spiked with a little bit of jazz. Add to this his increasing fascination with themes that played out over the course of a full album – Shotgun Willie was an outlaw's record through and through, Phases and Stages was an explicit divorce album, with a strong narrative pull – and it made for two near-perfect records that worked as a whole, but could stand as collections of perfect songs: these albums contained such Nelson standards as "Shotgun Willie," "Whiskey River," "Sad Songs and Waltzes," "Slow Down Old World," "Pretend I Never Happened," "Bloody Mary Morning," "It's Not Supposed to Be That Way," and "Pick Up the Tempo," after all.

BACH AND BOURBON captures the eclectic spirit of a live concert by The Old Guitarist, including works by Bach, Mozart, Ralph Towner, and six of The Old Guitarist’s own compositions. The album features everything from Irish folk music of the Baroque period to wistful originals with historically sourced arrangements, bridging centuries and traditions. Highlights include Jesu After-Bach Fantasia, a lyrical tribute that imagines Bach as a 20th-century Irish-American guitarist, and Distant Hills by Ralph Towner, whose contrapuntal clarity echoes Pachelbel's Canon. The collection closes with three original pieces reflecting poignant moments in the composer’s life.

The final volume in a new groundbreaking and much-praised complete symphony cycle of Ferdinand Ries’ (1784–1838) symphonies by the Tapiola Sinfonietta and conductor Janne Nisonen includes the composer’s two final statements in the symphony genre. Like most of his symphonies, also Ries’ Symphony No. 6 was premiered in London in 1822. His Seventh Symphony, written a decade later, remained in the shadows and was published only in 2004. Both works, however, are full of discoveries.

English violinist Chloë Hanslip was a gifted child prodigy and has maintained a successful professional career as a soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist. Hanslip began studying violin at the age of two and immediately demonstrated a remarkable affinity for the instrument, playing in public at four, and for Yehudi Menuhin at five. Her primary teachers were Natasha Boyarskaya and Zakhar Bron. By the time she was 10, she had established an international reputation and appeared in concert throughout Europe and in the United States. She was featured as the "infant prodigy violinist" in Ralph Fiennes' film of Evgeny Onegin. Her first two CDs, made when she was in her early teens, went on to win awards in Germany and England, and her solo recording for Naxos, including John Adams' Violin Concerto and John Corigliano's The Red Violin, made when she was 18, rose to the number two spot on the British Classical Charts.
