    Label: Essay Recordings | MP3-320 kbps / FLAC (tracks + .cue, log) | 00:51:18 | 117 MB / 317 MB | 21 tracks
Genre: Favela Funk / Electronic / Latin / Bass Music / Baile Funk

Rio Baile Funk: More Favela Booty Beats is an explosive twenty-one-track compilation released in 2006 by Essay Recordings, serving as a raw, high-octane snapshot of Rio de Janeiro's vibrant funk carioca movement. Stepping beyond the accessible pop crossover of its predecessor, this sequel leans heavily into the hypnotic, raw energy of Brazil's favela sound systems. Built upon hard-hitting digital electro beats, syncopated Afro-Brazilian percussion, loop-driven berimbau samples, and fierce, explicit MC vocal chants, the collection highlights seminal genre figures like Mr. Catra, MC Marcinho, Deize Tigrona, and Edu K (remixed by Bonde Do Rolê). Delivering intense basslines and relentlessly danceable syncopation on tracks like Berimbau, Sex-O-Matic, and Desce Glamourosa, this anthology offers an authentic, uncut window into modern global bass music and urban Brazilian club culture.

    Label: Born Bad Records | MP3-320 kbps / FLAC (tracks + .cue, log) | 01:09:12 | 158 MB / 482 MB | 14 tracks
Genre: Electronic / Funk / World Fusion / Afrobeat

African Electronic Music 1975-1982 compiles pioneering recordings from the prolific output of Cameroonian multi-instrumentalist, author, and musicologist Francis Bebey, released in 2012 by Born Bad Records. Merging traditional African instrumentation like the sanza (thumb piano) and marimba with then-emerging electronic innovations such as analog synthesizers and programmable drum machines, Bebey crafted a forward-thinking and deeply engaging sound that seamlessly bridged African roots music, urban Makossa, and avant-garde electro-funk. Simultaneously minimal and intricately layered, Bebey's ebullient melodies, kinetic polyrhythms, and endearing vocal delivery—sung and toasted across Duala, French, and English—shine on essential cuts like the bass-heavy New Track, the wryly infectious The Coffee Cola Song, and the hypnotic Pygmy Love Song. Preceding the electrified traditionalism of modern acts like Konono No. 1 and Staff Benda Bilili, this essential anthology stands as a testament to one of Africa's most visionary musical pioneers.

    Genre: Electronic, Disco, Nu-Disco
Zen And The Art Of Disco [Mixed By DJs In The Sky] is an extraordinarily slick, hypnotically curated, and essential continuous mix compilation released in 2010 by Sav Remzi's celebrated London-based imprint Tirk under the catalog reference TIRK 053. Masterfully blended by the U.K. outfit DJs in the Sky, this 70-minute sonic excursion serves as both a definitive document and a potent primer for the modern nu-disco landscape, seamlessly bridging late-1970s analogue synth magic with contemporary house and techno sensibilities. The 15-track journey launches in stately fashion with Architeq's acid-tinged remix of Cruisin' Gang's Chinatown before diving deep into lush cosmic Balearic beats, funky guitar grooves, and hypnotic synth-disco workouts. Highlights abound throughout the continuous sequence: Space receives two stellar re-imagining treatments via Richard Norris's The Time And Space Machine on Carry On, Turn Me On and Acos Coolkas on Flying Nightmare, while Woolfy Vs Projections delivers tropical heat through Permanent Vacation's damp, reverb-drenched rework of Neeve. Further standout cuts from Bottin, Sorcerer, and Social Disco Club elevate the collection into a masterclass of dancefloor sophistication. Meticulously engineered to preserve dynamic bass response, crisp percussion, and spatial continuity, this release stands as an essential cornerstone for modern nu-disco aficionados, cosmic electronic collectors, and underground DJ archivists globally.

Former Clearlight's leader Cyrille Verdeaux comes back, after a too long absence. Dedicated to the planet's survival, "Messenger Of The Son" (1984) displays some lyrical and romantic streamings down of keyboards. His sense of melody reminds the best passages of "Visions". "Rhapsodies Pour La Planète Bleue", from which four titles are included on this welcome Musea reissue, have originally been recorded during the year 1986.

Dreamy and surreal, this CD effortlessly combines the traditional sounds of European Electronic music of the 1970’s, with today’s more modern aesthetics. Much of this music was recorded live in Southern California, at two different performances by Oken and Ellett. Later, Richard Pinhas’ processed guitar loops were blended into the mix, with Oken adding in a few additional new tones as well, creating the final release…

Overseen by producer Frank Peterson, co-founder of Michael Cretu's Enigma outfit, Gregorian's first album, Masters of Chant, released in 1999 (an early 1991 Peterson album released under the name Gregorian isn't counted among the group's official releases, but already employs the same aesthetic), became a smash hit throughout Europe, entering the Top Ten in nine different countries. The following albums continued in the same vein, covering songs by Peter Gabriel, Lenny Kravitz, Coldplay, Björk, Queen, Tears for Fears, and others.

Who could've known from Associates' first single - a skeletal, spirited, practically all-rhythm corkscrewing of Bowie's "Boys Keep Swinging," released only a few weeks after the original - that they'd proceed to record some of the most bizarre, most claustrophobic, most energizing, most inexplicable singles of the '80s? From 1980 through 1982, they were as pop as ABC and as not-pop as the Pop Group, occasionally at the same time. Soaring melodies were bounced off frayed-nerve dissonance, topped by lyrics that could wrench the soul and then scramble the brain. Singles, the best Associates compilation to date, acts as an improved, expanded, more in-depth version of 1990's Popera, widening the scope to cover some of Billy Mackenzie's solo-in-name material while leaving enough room for one-off diversions, such as Mackenzie Sings Orbidoig's deliriously breathless cover of Schwartz Kapell's "Ice Cream Factory"…

Inoyama Land (Inoyamaland) was a duo of Yasushi Yamashita and Makoto Inoue, both past members of avant-pop ensemble Hikashu. It appears they only issued a couple of albums, as well as a posthumous compilation of live and previously unreleased material.
