The making of Congo Funk!, our long-awaited journey to the musical heart of the African continent, took the Analog Africa Team on two journeys to Kinshasa and one to Brazzaville. Selected meticulously from around 2000 songs and boiled down to 14, this compilation aims to showcase the many facets of the funky, hypnotic and schizophrenic tunes emanating from the two Congolese capitals nestled on the banks of the Congo River.

Golden Afrique Vol. 2 is an immersive, beautifully restored double-CD anthology released by Network Medien in 2005, turning its lens entirely toward the legendary sounds of the Congo basin. Spanning 1956 to 1982, this second volume documents a glorious Afro-Caribbean dialogue, charting the evolution of traditional styles colliding with Cuban rhythms to create Congolese rumba and early soukous. The compilation opens with a monumental 12-minute collaboration between Franco and Sam Mangwana, setting a stage filled with shimmering guitars, bright horn arrangements, and sweet vocal melodies. Featuring foundational pillars like Joseph Kabasele's African Jazz—including the historic independence anthem "Indépendance Cha Cha Cha"—alongside "Guitar Sorcerer" Docteur Nico, Tabu Ley Rochereau, and Cameroon's Manu Dibango at the dawn of his career, this release stands as an essential, danceable archive of Africa's most influential modern musical dynasty.

The Bronze Sessions 1975–77 is a comprehensive compilation album by the pioneering Afro-rock band Osibisa, released digitally on February 6, 2026 under the label Prestige Elite USA. This 28-track anthology brings together the band’s high-energy material from their peak commercial era in the mid-to-late 1970s, a time when they were signed to Bronze Records. The collection features iconic studio tracks from albums like Welcome Home and Ojah Awake, alongside powerful live performances from their celebrated concert album Black Magic Night.

Cesária Évora was a Cape Verdean singer known for singing morna, a genre of music from Cape Verde, in her native Cape Verdean Creole. Her songs were often devoted to themes of love, homesickness, nostalgia, and the history of the Cape Verdean people. She was known for performing barefoot and for her habit of smoking and drinking on stage during intermissions. Évora's music received many accolades, including a Grammy Award in 2004, and it has influenced many Cape Verde diaspora musicians as well as American pop singer Madonna. Évora is also known as Cize, the Barefoot Diva, and the Queen of Morna.

Ali Farka Touré is well known as one of the most influential and talented guitarists that Africa has ever produced. His legacy and impact are hard to overstate: Ali’s sound merged his much-loved traditional Malian musical styles with distinct elements of the blues, resulting in the creation of a groundbreaking new genre, now well known as the ‘desert blues’, earning him 3 Grammy awards and widespread reverence. 'Voyageur' is the first release of previously unheard music since 2006’s 'Savane', and features a collection of recordings captured at various points in Ali’s illustrious career. The album, which features fellow Malian superstar Oumou Sangaré on 3 tracks, reaffirms Ali’s status as a globally revered legend of African music.

Cesária Évora was a Cape Verdean popular singer. Nicknamed the "Barefoot Diva" for performing without shoes, she was also known as the "Queen of Morna". A native of the island nation of Cape Verde, Cesária Évora was known as the country's foremost practitioner of the morna, which is strongly associated with the islands and combines West African percussion with Portuguese fados, Brazilian modhinas, and British sea shanties. Évora began singing morna at age 16 after meeting an attractive young guitarist. Her talent soon had her performing all over the islands, and in the late '60s two of her radio tapes were released as albums in the Netherlands and Portugal, respectively.

Originally surfacing on Duncan Brooker’s indie Kona label in early 2001, the album single-handedly kick-started the thirst among jazz, funk and soul fans and ‘diggers’ to rediscover lost music from Africa made during the ‘60s and ‘70s from a time when many countries were gaining independence and celebrating a Pan-African identity within their music. This compilation paved the way for Strut's brilliant Nigeria 70 compilation as well as labels like Soundway and Analog Africa! Out of print for over 8 years, the album has been reissued on Strut in its original form with an extra bonus track, a dynamite unreleased psychedelic cut by Kenya’s Ishmael Jingo.
