The soundtrack to Robert Wise’s film version of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music is being reissued across multiple formats, with a super deluxe edition offering “every musical element” from the film and a Dolby Atmos Mix.
The musical features classics such as as ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘The Sound of Music’ and ‘Edelweiss’ and Robert Wise walked away with Best Picture and Best Director Oscars (being director and co-producer) at the 1966 Academy Awards.
The new reissue is led by a 4CD+blu-ray super deluxe which features over 40 previously unreleased tracks, including 11 never-before-heard alternate takes and instrumentals of each song for that singalong-a-Sound-of-Music experience. The blu-rays capacity allows it to deliver the full score in hi-res stereo audio and well as a Dolby Atmos Mix of the 16-track original soundtrack.

Over the years, a substantial body of work was produced in our city, but those recordings are in danger of being lost forever.The Louisville Story Program has been working with dozens of people in the local gospel music community to locate, digitize, and preserve hundreds of these recordings and to develop a book that documents and honors the legacies of the people and communities that produced them.For decades, the passion, hard work, and support of countless people across dozens of Black church communities in Louisville have nurtured and sustained a rich gospel music ecosystem. Few Jamaican music makers have demonstrated greater versatility or proficiency than Lloyd Charmers, who first made his name on the Jamaican music scene as a youthful singer- songwriter in the early 60s, performing as half of the popular duo, The Charmers. Subsequent solo works along with a spell with The Uniques vocal trio ultimately led on to a move into record production. Over the years that immediately followed, his output as both a performer and producer included multiple major reggae hits, most notably Ken Boothe’s chart-topping version of ‘Everything I Own’, the success of which confirmed Charmer’s position as one of the Jamaica’s finest talents. Soon after this international best-seller, he produced works by a number of other leading Jamaican-based acts, their number including keyboard maestro Harold Butler, popular singer Dobby Dobson and the multi-talented Richard Ace - and it is these three supremely gifted artists whose work primarily comprises this collection.

Inspired by Bob Dylan, a host of singer songwriters came to the fore and one of the most significant was Jerry Jeff Walker. He merged folk, country and rock and as well as writing his own classic compositions and being a natural storyteller, he encouraged young songwriters and gave many of them their own start. Garth Brooks, Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green and Jack Ingram were all inspired by him. He wasn't born Jerry Jeff Walker. Ronald Clyde Crosby was born in Oneonta, Otsego County, New York State on 16th March 1942. That's not a bad name but it's not as good as Jerry Jeff Walker. Jerry Jeff re-invented himself as a lone star Texas country rocker and today is a major figure in the Austin musical community. His most famous song is 'Mr Bojangles'. This affectionate song became a US Top 10 Hit for The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and has been recorded by Sammy Davis Jr., Nilsson, Harry Belafonte, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone and Robbie Williams. President Nixon once said it was his favourite song. This CD set also includes compositions by Kris Kristofferson, Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, Lee Clayton and John D. Loudermilk. BMG has announced the release of the limited edition box set, ‘Crücial Crüe: The Studio Albums 1981-1989′ featuring the band’s first five Platinum-selling landmark albums pressed on colored vinyl.
1981’s Too Fast For Love will be on white and black splatter, 1983’s Shout At The Devil on yellow and black splatter, 1985’s Theatre Of Pain on hot pink magenta and black splatter, 1987’s Girls, Girls, Girls on cyan blue and black splatter, and 1989’s Dr. Feelgood on Coke bottle green and oxblood splatter. The Crücial Crüe box set will also be released on CD with only 10,000 units of each configuration available globally, available February 17th.

During the 1990s, Collegium Musicum 90 and Simon Standage released several volumes of Albinoni concertos, which proved popular with critics and public alike. The concertos were released as discs of single oboe concertos, double oboe concertos, and string concertos. In this re-issue on the Chaconne label, the concertos are presented in opus number order, showing the contrasting colours and tonalities of the concertos as they originally appeared.
