"Echoes from the Past" is the 20th studio album of the most successful German art & progressive rock band Eloy. It is also the 3rd album of a unique trilogy designed by band mastermind Frank Bornemann as a rock opera about the life and fate of the French national heroine and saint Joan of Arc. Sensitive & atmospheric passages alternate with powerful, dramaturgically shaped sound waves that will remind Eloy fans of earlier works.

Paul McCartney Out of all the former Beatles, Paul McCartney has had the most successful and diverse solo career, maintaining a constant presence in the British and American charts during the 1970s and '80s and becoming a musical and cultural icon in the decades since. McCartney's hot streak began in 1970, when he became the first Beatle to leave the group and quickly began accumulating hit singles and best-selling albums as a solo artist. Then, he formed Wings in late 1971 with his wife Linda and Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine, and the group remained active for the next ten years, racking up a string of hit albums, singles, and tours in the meantime. Wings disbanded in 1980, but McCartney stayed near the top of the charts over the next five years, thanks in part to a couple of big duets with Michael Jackson. McCartney revived his solo career in 1989 via Flowers in the Dirt and its accompanying international tour, setting a template he would follow into the new millennium, when he'd support his records by playing concerts around the world. Between these massive endeavors, McCartney pursued other projects, including classical compositions, an electronica outfit with Youth called the Fireman, and overseeing archival projects such as the Beatles' Anthology series.

From the title, you might figure this to be a best-of compilation, but as a representative Atomic Rooster overview, it has substantial drawbacks. The material is taken from what the liner notes judge as "the two most important periods in the group's career, 1970-72 and 1979-82," which means that there are some substantial gaps. The most glaring of these is the absence of any material from their first album, which happened to be the one featuring future ELP drummer Carl Palmer in the lineup, and hence the one of most probable interest to many listeners. The liner notes are often damnably vague about dates and sources for the tracks, though some are given. What's worse, their two big British hits, "Tomorrow Night" and "Devil's Answer," are represented not by the original versions, but live ones (a 1981 recording for "Devil's Answer," one of unspecified vintage for "Tomorrow Night"). The 1979-82 cuts, from when they were working the heavy metal market, don't sound incredibly different from the ones in the early '70s, although they're more guitar-oriented.

Though they had all the trappings of a Southern-fried blues band, Little Feat were hardly conventional. Led by songwriter/guitarist Lowell George, Little Feat were a wildly eclectic band, bringing together strains of blues, R&B, country, and rock & roll. The bandmembers were exceptionally gifted technically and their polished professionalism sat well with the slick sounds coming out of Southern California during the '70s.

Following on, of course, from the first volume of First 10 Explosive Years, this 18-track collection is again devoted to exploring guitarist John du Cann's two stints with Atomic Rooster, between 1970-1972 and 1979-1982. First impressions suggest that it is more heavily weighted toward the latter period than its predecessor – all but two of the songs from 1980's Atomic Rooster comeback album are included, together with the rare 1982 single "End of the Day," all restating the often-overlooked drama and dynamics of that particular set. "I Can't Stand It" still has "hit single" written all over it. Nine cuts from the early years, meanwhile, remind listeners why it was actually worth the band's while re-forming all those years later. Even at the height of the progressive rock boom, Atomic Rooster packed a punch that utterly belied their adhesion to the then-fashionable guitar/organ/drums lineup and, though they never received the attention that awaited others of that ilk, clearly their efforts were not forgotten – the late-'70s New Wave of British Heavy Metal adopted Atomic Rooster even before they re-formed, and the brain-damaging likes of "VUG" and "Friday the 13th" prove that such enthusiasm was not misplaced. Elsewhere, "The Rock" (the original B-side to the hit "Devil's Answer" single) packs an almost funky vibe, while the immortally titled "A Spoonful of Bromide Helps the Pulse Rate Go Down," from 1971's In Hearing of Atomic Rooster album, has a virtuoso flair that, pursued to its logical extreme, could have spawned an entire new genre of "death jazz." That neither Atomic Rooster nor anyone else ever bothered pursuing that particular direction is a blessing for which listeners should probably be grateful – but it is fun in small doses.

You Thrill Me To Pieces is Teensville's retrospective at the neglected side of beat and pop music from the U.K in the mid-1960s. I/O (typeset as i/o) is the tenth studio album[a] by English rock musician Peter Gabriel, released on 1 December 2023 through Real World Records. It is Gabriel's first album of new original material in over 21 years since Up (2002), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in his solo career. Additionally, I/O is his longest studio album to date. I/O had been in the works for nearly three decades, with its initial production dating back to 1995, at around the same time Gabriel began recording Up. He began planning the follow-up to Up as early as 2000 and had originally intended to release it in 2004, but the album was repeatedly delayed, reworked and re-recorded at seven recording studios (and one arena during soundchecks while on tour with Sting in 2016) before its completion in 2022. This was due to Gabriel focusing on other projects such as his two orchestral albums Scratch My Back (2010) and New Blood (2011), which contained covers of songs by other artists and rearrangements of his older material, respectively. Beginning in January 2023, Gabriel released a new single every full moon, with its alternate mix released on the following new moon, eventually culminating in the album's release at the end of the year; this replicates the 2010 double-sided single releases in promotion of And I'll Scratch Yours (2013). He has stated that he will release more songs in this format following the album's release. I/O received positive reviews from music critics, with praise being particularly directed towards Gabriel's vocals and songwriting.
