Alfie Boe unveils a landmark album with "Face Myself", which sees the people’s tenor stepping into the spotlight as a singer-songwriter for the very first time. The culmination of a twenty five year ambition to create and release original music, the record offers a "raw, earthy and real quality inspired by his recent return home to the North of England and a nostalgic look back at his younger days, including the indie scene and youth culture that shaped him, while also taking an unfiltered lens to his life. To realise this vision, Alfie collaborated with the acclaimed production duo MyRiot (Tim Bran and Roy Kerr), known for their work with an eclectic array of artists including London Grammar, Birdy, Paul McCartney, Rae Morris, La Roux, KT Tunstall, Halsey, The Verve and Primal Scream. Honest, surprising, and deeply evocative, "Face Myself" invites listeners to meet the real Alfie Boe as he explores the journey that brought him to a new beginning.

The deluxe edition includes 11 bonus tracks comprised of demos and remixes, featuring contributions from members of Deafheaven, The Blood Brothers, Youth Code and more.

Grow is now the third CD by the Axiom Quartet. It was partly recorded live on 3 May 2024 during a concert at the beautiful Teatro Reana del Royale in Udine. ‘Partly live’ means that two of the tracks come directly from the concert, while the rest were recorded earlier that same day on the same stage. It is a complete live set of music by Axiom – no overdubs, no post-production, no corrections. The band, pure and simple, in real time.

In another gesture of solidarity with the victims of the war in Ukraine, the Metropolitan Opera and the Polish National Opera will gather leading Ukrainian musicians into the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra for a European and American tour July 28–August 20, including stops in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, before culminating with concerts in New York and Washington, DC. Under the leadership of Canadian-Ukrainian conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson, the orchestra will perform a program that includes Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov’s Seventh Symphony and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2, with Ukrainian virtuoso Anna Fedorova. Leading Ukrainian soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska, who sang the title role of Turandot at the Met in the spring, will perform the great aria “Abscheulicher!” from Beethoven’s Fidelio, a paean to humanity and peace in the face of violence and cruelty.

Kerala Dust was formed in London in 2016. Growing up on the sounds of CAN, The Velvet Underground and Tom Waits while spending blurry mornings in nightclubs, the band combines those disparate influences of psychedelic rock, blues and techno into one. “Driving sounds for late nights; or perhaps you’re on a street somewhere in the Western hemisphere, and a shiny new car passes you by too fast, like something from a glossy magazine, and before you know it, it’s gone again.”

Despite the outright denial in its title, death is present in every one of the songs on Never Die, the collaborative album from Midwife’s Madeline Johnston and Matt Jencik (of Implodes, Don Caballero, and Slint’s live band). Jencik held the tenderest thought imaginable when he came up with that phrase—Never Die—the fact that the people he loves eventually would, a certainty that feels impossible and remote, until the day it absolutely doesn’t. Never Die represents Jencik’s desperate bid to hold onto everyone he loves, to keep them on Earth so fiercely that they might enter the grave with claw marks on their skin. Johnston, who recognizes the grace of mortality (and who, as Midwife once sang: “I don’t wanna live forever,” over and over) serves as the spiritual guide for the album, transmuting the fear of death into an incentive to live more keenly and dearly.
