Celebrated accordionist Bjarke Mogensen showcases the full expressive power of the classical accordion in this compelling album of 20th and 21st-century concertos. Concertos & Movements spans diverse sound worlds, featuring music by Ihor Shamo, Anders Koppel, and Ole Schmidt-three composers united by their innovation and curiosity. The centrepiece is Shamo's Concerto for Accordion and String Orchestra (1981), a rarely heard Ukrainian work blending cathedral-like sonorities with folkloric flair.

Richard had played piano with a cocktail jazz trio in a handful of local Connecticut nightclubs. Once the family had moved to California, he began to study piano while he supported Karen in a trio that featured Wes Jacobs (tuba/bass). With Jacobs and Richard forming her backup band, Karen was signed to the local California record label Magic Lamp, which released two unsuccessful singles by the singer. The trio won a Battle of the Bands contest at the Hollywood Bowl in 1966, which led to a record contract with RCA. Signing under the name the Richard Carpenter Trio, the group cut four songs that were never released. Jacobs left the band at the beginning of 1968.Following Jacobs' departure, the siblings formed Spectrum with Richard's college friend John Bettis. Spectrum fell apart by the end of the year, but the Carpenters continued performing as a duo. The pair recorded some demos at the house of Los Angeles session musician Joe Osborn; the tape was directed toward Herb Alpert, the head of A&M Records, who signed the duo to his record label in early 1969.Offering, the Carpenters' first album, was released in November 1969.

The Carpenters With their light, airy melodies and meticulously crafted, clean arrangements that appealed to a variety of audiences, the Carpenters stood in direct contrast to the excessive, gaudy pop/rock of the '70s. Yet, they became one of the most popular artists of the decade, winning four Grammy Awards, and scoring 12 Top Ten hits, and three number one singles, including the classic "(They Long to Be) Close to You" off 1970's Close to You. Karen Carpenter's calm, pretty voice was the most distinctive element of their music, settling in perfectly amidst the precise, lush arrangements provided by her brother Richard. Though their popularity began to fade as the '70s progressed, the duo continued to make music together until Karen's tragic death in 1983.

Pink Floyd announce the upcoming release of their iconic album Animals 2018 Remix for the first time in Dolby Atmos immersive audio on Blu-ray. Animals is the tenth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in January 1977 .. It was recordedat the band’s Britannia Row Studios in London throughout 1976 and early 1977, and was produced by the band themselves. The successful album peaked at number 2 in the UK and number 3 in the US and was recorded by band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. The Animals 2018 Remix – Dolby Atmos, by James Guthrie, will be released on Blu-ray, which also includes High Resolution Stereo and 5.1 Mixes alongside the 1977 Original Stereo Mix. The Dolby Atmos mix goes beyond ordinary listening by immersing the listener in the music, revealing details with unparalleled clarity and depth. Listeners will feel like they are inside the song as music moves around and above them.

This is one of trumpeter Dizzy Reece's finest recordings, a well-planned sextet date with baritonist Cecil Payne, Joe Farrell on tenor and flute, pianist Hank Jones, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Charlie Persip that is on the level of a Blue Note album. Reece (who contributed three diverse originals) performs mostly minor-toned songs that seem to really inspire the musicians. The solos tend to be concise but quite meaningful, and, overall, this hard bop but occasionally surprising session is quite memorable.

Anyone who calls an organ piece a "Grande Pièce Symphonique" should not be surprised if this very title one day serves as a yardstick to determine the legitimacy of the attribute. This is exactly what the organist, composer and pedagogue Zsigmond Szathmáry did at the instigation of his young colleague Christian Schmitt when he examined César Franck's "great symphonic piece" for its orchestral possibilities. The result of this examination brings us the world premiere of a concert piece in which the queen of instruments and her personified registers, i.e. the orchestra, form a captivating synthesis. Via Franck's well-known tone poem "Les Éolides" ("The Daughters of Aeolus"), the program finally leads to a discographic rarity by Charles-Marie Widor - a "Walpurgis Night" that easily rivals the most famous witches' dances in Romantic literature.

Five years younger than Johann Sebastian Bach, who outlived him by a whole eight months, Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel also belonged to that circle of central German musicians who were able to make a melodious name for themselves beyond their regional sphere of influence. It is no coincidence that the sacred works of the long-time court conductor of Gotha have found a representative home in our catalog. The passions, oratorios and cantatas that have already been published are now joined by five pieces of Protestant service music in which the extensive Catholic liturgy is reduced to Kyrie and Gloria: the missae breves selected here confirm once again that their author was "one of those reasonable, learned and great composers" to whom Johann Mattheson gave a proper place in his "Ehrenpforte" in 1740 for good reason. Everyone was entitled to know that.

Recorded to mark the 90th birthday of Arvo Pärt, this album valuably anthologises the Estonian composer’s piano music. The Latvian pianist Georgijs Osokins is an infallibly empathetic guide to these often visionary pieces. In the opening work, Für Alina, Pärt’s trademark tintinnabuli (bell-like) effects are mesmerically registered, while tenderness suffuses Osokins’ solicitous account of Variations for the Healing of Arinushka. Passages of Lisztian brilliance and chant-like eloquence sit cheek by jowl in Osokins' arrangement of Fratres, one of Pärt’s best-known pieces.

Above the album worked the 'The Best 70s Album In The World…Ever!', and his release took place on 2021. The album has got songs with a total duration of more than an hour. A compilation is a compilation of original music.

Slightly scattershot 1984 LP, originally released on the now-defunct Red Beans logo, that hits more than it misses. At its best - the sardonic title track, a couple of vocals by veteran pianist Jimmy Walker, a stunning "Son of Juke" that spotlights Branch's harp wizardry - it's a fine introduction to the SOBs' multi-faceted attack.

Are You Gonna Go My Way is the third studio album by American singer Lenny Kravitz, released on March 9, 1993 by Virgin Records. It was recorded at Waterfront Studios, Hoboken, New Jersey by Henry Hirsch. It became Kravitz's first top 20 album on the United States Billboard 200, and his first number one album in both Australia and the United Kingdom, achieving worldwide success that helped to establish his popularity as a performer. The album had a good reception by fans and music critics and it is still considered one of Kravitz's best works. Musically, it contained songs inspired by classic rock artists such as Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Curtis Mayfield, Sly and Robbie, and Prince.

Allan Holdsworth is a legendary figure in the world of Jazz and Rock guitar players. For four decades he has been considered one of the finest exponents of the instrument. Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of the album that saw Holdsworth make his recorded debut, Igginbottom's Wrench. Igginbottom was formed in Bradford in 1968 and also featured Dave Freeman (drums), Steven Robinson (guitar, vocals) and Mick Skelly (bass). Their sole album was originally released by Decca's Deram label in 1969, and featured such innovative pieces as The Castle and Sweet Dry Biscuits. The record also enjoyed the patronage of Jazz legend Ronnie Scott. A criminally under-rated work, Esoteric is proud to present the album to a new audience.

With Breakfast in America, Supertramp had a genuine blockbuster hit, topping the charts for four weeks in the U.S. and selling millions of copies worldwide; by the 1990s, the album had sold over 18 million units across the world. Although their previous records had some popular success, they never even hinted at the massive sales of Breakfast in America. Then again, Supertramp's earlier records weren't as pop-oriented as Breakfast. The majority of the album consisted of tightly written, catchy, well-constructed pop songs, like the hits "The Logical Song," "Take the Long Way Home," and "Goodbye Stranger." Supertramp still had a tendency to indulge themselves occasionally, but Breakfast in America had very few weak moments. It was clearly their high-water mark.
