    Label: DIW | FLAC (tracks + .cue,log) | 62:09 | 307 MB | 9 tracks
    Genre: Jazz, Post Bop

Captured live at New York's legendary jazz sanctuary in December 1990, this monumental concert document stands as a definitive pinnacle of modern piano trio expression. Released on the acclaimed Japanese label DIW, the performance captures the exceptional chemistry between visionary pianist Geri Allen, legendary bassist Charlie Haden, and avant-garde drumming master Paul Motian. Operating without a traditional timekeeper mindset, the trio builds fluid, conversational soundscapes where composition and free improvisation dissolve into one another. The carefully curated setlist features deeply personal originals from all three members, navigating from Allen's spiritually resonant chordal explorations to Motian's hauntingly sparse melodic structures and Haden's robust, blues-inflected bass laments. Allen's remarkable command of the piano keys channels both traditional swing logic and angular avant-garde clusters, beautifully framed by Motian's abstract, shimmering cymbal work. It remains an essential, deeply intellectual live document of contemporary creative acoustic jazz history.

Typifying the excesses that have frequently been denounced in their genre, UK progressive rock band Gravy Train recorded a series of albums for Vertigo Records and Dawn Records in the early 70s bedecked in grandiose, conceptual artwork. The group’s core members were Norman Barratt (vocals/guitar; b. 5 February 1949, d. 30 July 2011), Barry Davenport (drums), J.D. Hughes (woodwind/keyboards/vocals) and Les Williams (bass/vocals). Their first, self-titled 1970 album was dominated by Hughes’ flute melodies, which earned the group initial comparisons to Jethro Tull, as well as extended rock riffs. One of the songs, ‘Tribute To Syd’, was an obvious salute to the genius of Syd Barrett.

Tin Machine II is the second and final studio album by the Anglo-American rock band Tin Machine, released on 2 September 1991 through Victory Music. The band, composed of David Bowie, Reeves Gabrels on guitar and brothers Tony Fox and Hunt Sales on bass and drums, respectively, recorded it in Sydney, Australia, in late 1989 at the conclusion of the Tin Machine Tour. After Bowie completed his solo Sound+Vision Tour in late 1990, recording resumed in Los Angeles, California, until March 1991. The production was handled by Tin Machine and Tim Palmer, who produced their debut studio album (1989), with additional production by Hugh Padgham on "One Shot". While the album musically retains a hard rock sound, the songs are more melodic compared to its predecessor, with lyrics focusing on love.

Mr. Tambourine Man is the greatest hits album by the American rock band The Byrds, originally released as The Byrds' Greatest Hits. It is the first greatest hits album by the Byrds and was released in August 1967 on Columbia Records. It is the top-selling album in the Byrds' catalogue and reached number 6 on the Billboard Top LPs chart, but failed to chart in the UK. The album provides a summary of the Byrds' history during Gene Clark and David Crosby's tenure with the band and also functions as a survey of the group's hit singles from 1965 to 1967, a period when the band had its greatest amount of success on the singles chart. Most of the band's U.S. A-sides from this period are included on the album, along with three of their more important album tracks: "I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better", "The Bells of Rhymney", and "Chimes of Freedom".

Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist. As a three-time Grammy Award-nominee, Armatrading was nominated twice for BRIT Awards as Best Female Artist. She also received an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection in 1996. In a recording career spanning 40 years, Armatrading has released 18 studio albums, as well as several live albums and compilations. This compilation of Joan Armatrading's best moments has all of the indisputable singles on it, but some of those choices, as to whether they were the very best of an artist who has always been more favored than understood is open to debate. Nonetheless, these 14 tracks do provide a fine introduction to Armatrading, who has slipped from the cultural radar screen – at least in America – since before the turn of the century.

Besides offering a more primal glimpse into Boots‘ music, this release delivers a softer side of Boots‘ electronic styling. The compositions are moodier here, more rooted in the ambience of Steve Roach or Michael Stearns than the powerful epics of Boots‘ more recent works. And yet, Boots introduces his own elegance to these atmospheric soundscapes, injecting subtle power to this peaceful sonic domain…
