Great compilation. Featuring a wide variaty of Dire Straits tours and a very good recording of the last concert of The Notting Hillbillies tour from 1990. All songs are taken from soundboard recordings, good to very good sound quality.

Guy Fletcher was the keyboardist to the popular 1978-1996 British rock band Dire Straits. He joined the band in 1984, a year before Dire Straits' most successful legendary album, "Brothers In Arms", which put the band in the spotlight. After Dire Straits disbanded, Fletcher continued to be associated with almost every single piece of work concerning Mark Knopfler's solo career, the band's former lead singer and guitarist. Fletcher's first solo album, Inamorata, was released on 28 January 2008. Knopfler guested as lead guitarist for two tracks, and various musicians who have been associated with Knopfler's band also made appearances. Fletcher's second album, Stone, was released in 2009; his third, Natural Selection was released in 2010 with High Roads, being released in 2016. His latest album, "Anomaly" was released April 22nd 2022.

Closure/Continuation. Live. Amsterdam 07/11/22 documents Porcupine Tree’s triumphant return to the stage perfectly. A live recording captured on 7th November 2022 at Amsterdam’s 17,000 capacity Ziggo Dome, it places the listener/viewer right at the heart of the stage for the duration of the show as psychotropic visuals explode behind the band as they play a superlative set of songs that features - to use Steven Wilson’s words - “no hits,” where each one is received like an anthem from an alternate universe.

In 1963, a 21-year-old welder with dreams of becoming a full-time singer-songwriter, auditioned for one of Jamaica’s new elite record producers, Leslie Kong, owner of the recently launched Beverley’s Records label. After performing a number of original compositions, a deal was secured and within weeks the first of Desmond Dekker’s many 7” singles hit Kingston’s record stores. The record, which coupled two of his own songs, ‘Honour Your Mother And Father’ and ‘Madgie’, became an instant best-seller and heralded the beginning of a long and immensely successful run of hit singles by Dekker throughout the remainder of ska era and well beyond. This 2xCD set showcases both sides of Dekker’s first twenty singles for Kong’s esteemed Beverley’s label that set him on the path to international stardom.

Magnus Birgersson is back with the third instalment of his Origin series. Started in 2010, Origin aims to bring to completion all the unfinished, partially developed tracks piling in Solar Fields archives. The latest Origin release dates back to 2013, hence Birgersson felt it was time to merge deeper in his closet to bring some other pieces to completion. The result is ten brand-new tracks for a total of almost eighty minutes of previously unreleased music stemmed from ideas going as far back as 2006. Being built on arrangements and tracks developed along a period of ten years, Origin #03 is a very diverse and non-uniform album, making the listening experience extremely unpredictable and surprising. Solar Fields inimitable sound is always here, soaking every track, but each and every one of them has a different mood and brings forth different stories.

Given the sheer size of his catalog and the preponderance of Santana best-of compilations out there, trying to pick a single-disc collection can be a quest. This one, issued by Sony, assembles 17 cuts from the band's long run with Columbia, and does a very decent, if not perfect, job of capturing the essence of the band by collecting little more than just the hit singles. In accomplishing that, it does leave out some seminal cuts – there isn't even an edited version of "Soul Sacrifice here, nor are "Samba Pa Ti" from Abraxas and "Song of the Wind" from Caravanserai present. That said, virtually everything here is very solid.

Indiana-born John Hiatt is an unlikely but enthusiastic champion of the Midwestern work ethic - he's been making records since 1974, but 2010's The Open Road is his sixth studio effort since the dawn of the new millennium, and it sounds like the work of a man who isn't about to stop doing this work anytime soon. Like 2008's Same Old Man, The Open Road was recorded at Hiatt's home studio, and while he and his road band (Doug Lancio on guitar, Patrick O'Hearn on bass, and Kenny Blevins on drums) conjure up a lean, soulful groove on these sessions, the mood is easygoing and almost casual, which easily suits the bluesy tone of these songs.

Wishbone Ash are a British rock band who achieved success in the early and mid-1970s. Their popular albums included Wishbone Ash (1970), Pilgrimage (1971), Argus (1972), Wishbone Four (1973), There's the Rub (1974), and New England (1976). Wishbone Ash are noted for their extensive use of the harmony twin lead guitar format which had been attracting electric blues bands since Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page had played together in the Yardbirds in 1966. Their contributions helped Andy Powell and Ted Turner to be voted "Two of the Ten Most Important Guitarists in Rock History" (Traffic magazine 1989), and to appear in the "Top 20 Guitarists of All Time" (Rolling Stone). Melody Maker (1972) described Powell and Turner as "the most interesting two guitar team since the days when Beck and Page graced The Yardbirds". They have been cited as an influence by Iron Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris, as well as Thin Lizzy and other dual guitar bands.

Colin "Cozy" Trevor Powell was an English rock drummer, who made his name with many major rock bands like The Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow, Whitesnake and Black Sabbath. Powell had appeared on at least 66 albums, with contributions on many other recordings. Many rock drummers have cited him as a major influence. Polydor's The Very Best of Cozy Powell is culled from his early-'80s AOR and hard rock records.

Stockholm's most unpredictable metallic sons Opeth have offered another step on their dark journey into the Maelstrom that combines progressive sonics, and acoustic and electric instrumentation, all the while extrapolating on their now-trademark brand of death metal. When Lonnie Liston Smith left the Miles Davis band in 1974 for a solo career, he was, like so many of his fellow alumni, embarking on a musical odyssey. For a committed fusioneer, he had no idea at the time that he was about to enter an abyss that it would take him the better part of two decades to return from. Looking back upon his catalog from the period, this is the only record that stands out – not only from his own work, but also from every sense of the word: It is fully a jazz album, and a completely funky soul-jazz disc as well. Of the seven compositions here, six are by Smith, and the lone cover is of the Horace Silver classic, "Peace." The lineup includes bassist Cecil McBee, soprano saxophonist David Hubbard, tenor saxophonist Donald Smith (who doubles on flute), drummer Art Gore, and percussionists Lawrence Killian, Michael Carvin, and Leopoldo. Smith plays both piano and electric keyboards and keeps his compositions on the jazzy side – breezy, open, and full of groove playing that occasionally falls over to the funk side of the fence.
