David Rose was an american violinist from Susquehanna. Rose had recorded albums between 1977 and 1983 which make up his solo career, often backed by some of his colleagues from the French Transit Express (with whom he also founded a pop jazz band Blue Rose in the 80's, namely Serge Perathoner and Christian Basile Leroux). Besides fusion music, Rose was also a member of an American prog folk band named Fred in the late 60's and early 70's. His first album 'Distance Between Dreams' (engineered by Laurent Thibault of Magma) is the most famous one, but the rest also exhibit fusion that can be compared to that of Jean-Luc Ponty, as Rose also combined electronic sound with his acoustic and electric violins.

After the stillness comes the Afterlight. Created in the Spring of 2009, in the afterglow of Dynamic Stillness, this long-form piece delivers the listener deep inside a multi-dimensional realm of forming clouds, an endless expanse with no boundaries or sense of temporal limits. Amorphous strands of harmonic lumina emerge and recede in a constant unfolding and reconfiguring state for the duration of this pure atmospheric suspension. This piece, along with its two companion releases Destinations Beyond and Immersion Four were created over the the same time period, and all share a common sense of breath, interconnection and pursuit of timelessness. Refined over several months, the piece was kept in constant low-volume playback during sleep, rest and times of reflection. The ongoing experience of living with the piece, and shaping it before its release into the world, has become a vital part of Steve's immersion process, going back to 1984's Structures from Silence.

Henry Mancini really needs no introduction. His music is as much a part of the twentieth century as rock 'n' roll, the Lennon and McCartney partnership, jazz and the great American songbook. This Vocalion release compiles two albums from the later part of Mancini's more than twenty-year association with the RCA Victor label, and both show that he was more than able to 'get with it' in the funky 1970s. This is borne out in Mancini's Angels (1977), which, of course, is a paraphrase of 'Charlie's Angels', the massively popular US TV show that invited viewers into the glamorous world of a trio of beautiful female private detectives.
