After they went “Inside The Machine”, reaped the “Dead Harvest”, survived the “Garden Of Death”, and got injected with “Needles Of Rust”, This Ending are ready to become “Crowned In Blood”. Three years have passed, since the band released their album “Needles Of Rust” and the world is a different one now. In these days, people might scream even more for a strong dose of (melodic) death metal to channel all the negativity out there. This Ending took their time to write a strong album that combines all strengths of the Swedish five piece that arose from the ashes of A Canorous Quintet in 2006. The title track starts with a somewhat unsettling intro before the guitars take the listener into a thrashy verse that leads into an anthemic chorus…

‘Recordings: 2020-2025’ is not a traditional studio album but more a collection of songs that represent Simon’s journey as an artist and musician before becoming Deep Purple’s guitarist and hitting the stage with one of the most legendary bands in rock history. Bringing together raw, high-energy studio sessions, this release showcases McBride’s signature mix of blues, hard rock, and jaw-dropping guitar mastery. Alongside original material, the album features standout covers, including Duran Duran’s ‘Ordinary World’, Mr. Mister’s ‘Uniform of Youth’, and Bryan Adams’ ‘Kids Wanna Rock’. While some of the material has been available digitally, this release marks the first time these songs are available in a physical format.

The Choir of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, under the direction of David Skinner, unveils a luminous collection of works by Jacquet of Mantua (1483- 1559), a master of Renaissance polyphony. This album features a carefully curated selection of motets and his rare secular songs, showcasing Jacquet's exquisite blend of Franco-Flemish craftsmanship and Italianate lyricism. From the radiant Ave maris stella to the spirited drinking song Canamus et bibamus, these performances reveal the richness and vitality of Jacquet's music. Rarely recorded and steeped in Counter-Reformation fervour, this album offers an intimate journey into the heart of Renaissance musical expression.

Cabaret: a song and dance or two, some jokes, hummable tunes, and perhaps some sparkles - right? OK, but know that this cabaret is informed by a breathtakingly wide-ranging musical imagination. Now you have a better idea what to expect from the latest inspired work from Norwegian saxophonist and composer Marius Neset. The players on the album “Cabaret” are the same as on Neset’s striking 2022 effort, “Happy”: Elliot Galvin (keyboards), Magnus Hjorth (piano), Conor Chaplin (electric bass) and Anton Eger (drums & percussion). “Happy” was the first time they played together as a quintet, lending it a freshness in discovery. Now, though, they are a seasoned working band: “we’ve played a lot of concerts, and the interplay is different”, recapitulates Marius Neset.

"Living Ghosts" by the Michael Wollny Trio invites listeners on an immersive and spontaneous journey where past compositions evolve in real-time through collective improvisation. The album captures one evening in spring 2024, where the trio performed entirely by intuition, guided only by the shifting spirits of their past compositions. The night was filled with moments where the familiar themes of their songbook materialized unexpectedly, sometimes lingering briefly, other times expanding into new, unexpected paths. These “ghosts” of the past were reinterpreted and allowed to evolve in real-time, reflecting the trio’s deep, ongoing dialogue with their musical history.

Dmitry Shostakovich’s Symphonies are arguably the most impressive symphonic cycle of the 20th century – certainly, if you don’t count Gustav Mahler. The depth and variety of these 15 Symphonies, so closely tied to Shostakovich’s personality and the times he lived in, make it particularly rewarding to listen to different interpretations. Dmitrij Kitajenko’s survey, recorded between 2002 and 2004, has found its place among the great cycles, both for its artistic merits and its reference sonics, the wide dynamic range and the impassioned playing of the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne that the native Leningrad native Dmitrij Kitajenko obtains from his musicians. 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death.

Four decades after its release, this is still the most controversial record in Yes' output. Tales from Topographic Oceans was the place where Yes either fulfilled all of the promise shown on their previous five albums or slid off the rails in a fit of artistic hubris, especially on the part of lead singer Jon Anderson and guitarist Steve Howe, who dominated the composition credits here. Actually, the group probably did a bit of both here across 80 minutes of music on a fully packed double-LP set; the group's musical ambitions were obvious on its face, as it consisted of four long songs (really suites) each taking up a side of an album, and each longer than the previous album's side-long "Close to the Edge."

Marillion formed in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England in 1979. Recording consistently since 1982, their output is generally regarded as comprising two distinct eras, that of original vocalist Fish who helmed the band at arguably their most popular (critically and commercially), and his replacement, former Europeans member Steve Hogarth, who joined the band after Fish's departure in 1989. The band's differing styles between the two vocalists has often been known to divide fans.

The Bill Evans Trio's 1973 concert in Tokyo was his first recording for Fantasy and it produced yet another Grammy-nomination for the presentation. With bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Marty Morell, this LP mixes offbeat songs with overlooked gems, familiar standards, and surprisingly, only one Evans composition, the demanding "T.T.T.T. (Twelve Tone Tune Two)." Bobbie Gentry's "Mornin' Glory" was an unusual choice to open the performance and seems a bit conservative for Evans. The adrenaline picks up considerably with his midtempo waltzing take of Jerome Kern's "Up with the Lark" and a driving "My Romance." Evans also revisits the twisting Scott LaFaro tune "Gloria's Step," which showcases both Gomez and Morell. The closer, "On Green Dolphin Street," is given a slight bossa nova flavor and isn't nearly as aggressive as most of the pianist's live recordings of this popular standard…

The Doobie Brothers is the debut studio album by American rock band The Doobie Brothers. The album was recorded at Pacific Recorders in San Mateo, California and released on April 30, 1971, by Warner Bros. Records. It is their only official studio album with all tracks featuring original bass player Dave Shogren, who left during the recording of their second album. The first single from the album, "Nobody," failed to chart, as did the album itself. The single was re-released in October 1974 with a slightly edited length of 3:27 after the group had become a highly successful touring and recording act, peaking at #58 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Three Friends is the third studio album by British progressive rock band Gentle Giant, released in 1972. It was the band's first release to chart in America, peaking at #197 on the Billboard 200. It is the only album by Gentle Giant to feature drummer Malcolm Mortimore following the departure of Martin Smith. A concept album, Three Friends deals with three childhood friends whose lives take them very different places. However, each of the three friends are unsatisfied with their new lives. The closing song ends the story on a cliffhanger; whether or not the three friends ever reunite is never revealed. The album is predominantly instrumental, with some tracks having only brief vocal interludes.

The 2005 released "The Inconsolable Secret" wasn't the best, but it was the most ambitious album of the two US-Retroproggers Steve Babb and Fred Schendel. The double CD was a monumental concept album, on which for the first time Fiauch used a real drummer. In the past, the two multi-instrumentalists had "drummed" or programmed corresponding machines themselves. They also put no less than fifteen guest musicians at the service of this epic work, including a four-piece "Girls Choir", a soprano and a tenor as well as various strings. The album was sold out for a long time - and is now coming back on the market in a deluxe edition. But what's special is probably CD 3, which contains "The Morning She Woke" as well as the four longest tracks of the original work in remix versions…

An audio biography of Grace Jones, produced by Trevor Horn, it's a sonic treat along the lines of Yes's 90125 or Frankie Goes to Hollywood's first album (both produced by Horn). The music ranges from slick R&B runaway grooves to striking audio montages, interrupted occasionally by conversation about Jones's life. Serious ear candy.
