Il titolo di questo CD prende spunto dal titolo di un film di François Truffaut, sottile narratore di storie d'amore. La mente corre agli amori vissuti dietro l'angolo, alle storie mancate … che si riempiono d'incanto perchè vivono d'immaginazione e lasciano i desideri aperti aperti … Il disco nasce con lo stesso criterio del precedente, ma questa volta registrato dal vivo durante un concerto a Villa Celimontana, un po' rubato all'occasione di quella sera … all'ispirazione del momento, alle emozioni nostre ed insieme di ognuna delle persone che ci ascoltava. I "Baci Rubati" sono le sensazioni, le ispirazioni, le poassioni chje la musica acende all'improvviso, quasi rubate all'artista perchè superano sempre quelle che lui stesso poteva o voleva immaginare di regalare. E la meraviglia di scoprirsi a sua volta spettatore di questa magia è il dono più grande che il musicista riceve ogni volta che sale su un palco.

This collection brings together three much sought-after recordings by Steve Kuhn: the solo piano album “Ecstasy” (recorded 1974), and two quartet albums. “Motility” (1977) features the band of the same name with saxophonist Steve Slagle in the front line, while “Playground” (1979) is the album that introduced the Steve Kuhn-Sheila Jordan Quartet. Singer Jordan is of course one of the great jazz vocalists, and this was an inspired teaming. Kuhn himself is a superlative pianist of vast gifts; each of these recordings illuminates another aspect of his work. Of these three discs only “Ecstasy” was previously available on compact disc, and then only in Japan. “Motility” and “Playground” here receive their first CD releases.

Composed in 1866 for the inauguration of a votive chapel in Linz Cathedral, Anton Bruckners Mass no. 2 is a fine example of modernity blended with a centuries-old religious tradition, in that wind instruments are set in dialogue with choral writing inspired by Gregorian chant. Shorter in duration but scored for chorus and large orchestra with four soloists, his Te Deum of 1881 was acclaimed by such illustrious contemporaries as Hans Richter and Mahler, while the composer, usually very self-critical, opined that the score of this work would make God judge him kindly.

Schubert set the poetry of over 115 writers to music. He selected poems from classical Greece, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, from eighteenth-century German authors, early Romantics, Biedermeier poets, and Heine. The Deutsche Schubert-Lied-Edition presents all Schubert’s Lieder, over 700 songs, grouped according to the poets who inspired him. Thanks to the Neue Schubert-Ausgabe (New Schubert Edition), which uses primary sources, the performers have been able to benefit from the most recent research.

Albert Ayler was confronted with a spiritual anxiety that both plagued and comforted him throughout his life. This is frighteningly clear listening to the highly intense musical yin and yang that was present February 24, 1964, when the tracks for Goin' Home and Witches and Devils were recorded. Ayler plays tenor and soprano saxophones on "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," "Deep River," "Goin Home," "Down by the Riverside," "When the Saints Go Marchin In," and "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen." These traditional compositions are treated with reverence and a lack of improvisation, played in a quietly passionate but respectful manner.

This is a great collection of players taking off on some funky soul jazz. Most solos are pretty inspired and the horn arrangements are tight throughout. Now it’s time to get down to it - the last 5 minutes of this CD are worth the price of admission. During a 20 minute-plus, all out jam on the Average White Band classic Pick Up the Pieces, Michael Brecker takes things to a different level with one of the most goose bump inducing solos of his way too short career. If you are a fan of his or just appreciate those moments in life music where something special is captured, buy this CD.

This triple-disc 79-song compilation looks pretty impressive, and in some ways it is, representing most of the best work of each incarnation of the Drifters from 1953 through 1976. There's a lot of classic music here, including all of the big hits and many interesting (even musically glorious) flops and B-sides, but the limitations of three CDs make this less than ideal. Atlantic had already released a pair of two-CD sets, Let the Boogie Woogie Roll: Greatest Hits 1953-58 and All-Time Greatest Hits & More: 1959-1965, eight years earlier, each of which covers those major periods in question far more generously than does this box – although it must be conceded that the sound on the cuts included on Rockin' & Driftin' is improved over those late-'80s digital transfers, good as they seemed at the time…

The 1937 Benny Goodman & His Orchestra are still considered one of the top big bands ever. With a trumpet section featuring Harry James, Ziggy Elman, and Chris Griffin; pianist Jess Stacy and drummer Gene Krupa in the rhythm section; the leader's clarinet; and his trio and quartet with Teddy Wilson and Lionel Hampton, it is no wonder that Benny Goodman was so popular during this era. The main addition to the band during the second half of 1937 was singer Martha Tilton, who fit in quite well. Highlights of this often-stirring program include "Roll 'Em," the quartet on "Avalon" and "Handful of Keys," "Sugar Foot Stomp," and a swinging "Minnie the Moocher's Wedding Day."

Asleep at the Wheel devoted its entire career to Western swing, which is commonly known as the music Bob Wills created. They became the standard bearers for the genre, making sure that it was still an integral part of the country music mainstream. Since their entire career feels like a living monument to Wills, it almost seems unnecessary for them to record tributes to the "King of Western Swing" – that is, until you hear the records. Ride With Bob, their sequel to the award-winning Tribute to the Music of Bob Wills, has more guest appearances than its predecessor, but it's every bit as enjoyable.

An uncomparable Italian band indeed, Saint Just played a weird mix of Ethnic music and Folk Rock with plenty of Classical passages, where folk atmospheres alternate with organ themes and piano passages all the time but occasionally supported by light electric tunes. The music is soft but rather dark with plenty of acoustic guitars and characterized by Jenny's Sorrenti poetic and haunting vocal lines. While the whole album flows in a relaxed mood,there are surprisingly lots of breaks and alternating ideas in almost every track,which makes ''Saint just'' a demanding release. Organs, pianos and saxes have a major role leading the way and the few electric parts are well-played yet quite smooth. Surprisingly the self-titled number of the album is entirely sung in French by Sorrenti in a theatrical way with a definite beauty surrounding this delicate track.

Co-founder and key member of INXS, Andrew Farriss releases his first solo album. He was a main songwriter for INXS, co-writing all of their hits. He also plays multiple instruments, including keyboards and guitar for most of their songs. As a solo artist Fariss has strung together a solid set of songs that are more acoustic, folk and country, and reflect his life and musical style today.
