The Gramophone Award-winning Silesian Quartet present a double-album of the complete works for string quartet by compatriot Henryk Gorecki. All three of his numbered string quartets were written late in life – the first in 1988 – and all three were commissioned by the Kronos Quartet. The First Quartet is a single-movement work, based on a sixteenth-century song by Wacław of Szamotuły.

-Never heard before CD compilation, dedicated to the charismatic musician and author who revolutionized folk and rock music like no other in the '60s and became the worldwide figurehead of a cultural upheaval in youth culture: Bob Dylan. -Compiled with expertise and passion by French producer Philippe Le Bras for Bear Family Records®, this anthology features original recordings, mostly from the mid-1960s. -Dylan-inspired artists such as Dion, Lou Reed, Bobby Darin, Leon Russell, David Crosby, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger, Johnny Winter, David Blue and many others try to catch up with their mentor and colleague and produce songs in the idiom he pioneered. -Not a single Dylan song on this album, and yet the master can be heard throughout! -Foreword by the late John Sinclair, essays by Iggy Pop and Elliott Murphy, extensive liner notes and numerous rare illustrations and memorabilia in the 48-page booklet. Bob Dylan made his mark on US pop culture in the 1960s with his performances, his songwriting and lyrics like no other contemporary. An icon of folk and rock music, he influenced a generation of fellow artists who were either unable or unwilling to escape his charisma. French music producer Philippe Le Bras spent years developing the concept of a compilation on which Dylan's influence is obvious at every second, although not a single cover version of his songs can be found.

Tangerine Dream (1967). Tangerine Dream probably has the edge as the best of this British psychedelic group's two albums, but not by much. A long sought-after psychedelic rarity, it includes several of Kaleidoscope's best songs: "Flight from Ashiya," "Dive into Yesterday," "The Murder of Lewis Tollani," and especially the fragile ballad "Please Excuse My Face."
Faintly Blowing (1969). For their second album, Kaleidoscope delivered something an awful lot like their debut, a body of pleasant, trippy, spacy raga-rock, with the main difference that they pushed the wattage a little harder on their instruments - they'd also been performing pretty extensively by the time of their second long-player, and a lot of the music here was material that they'd worked out on-stage in very solid versions…

Riding the success of their award-winning breakthrough Take Me Back to Eden, the undefinable enigma that is Sleep Token made a quick turnaround with their stunning major-label debut, Even in Arcadia. A streamlined evolution of their established sound, this ten-song set tightens their rule-shattering whirlwind into a focused assault on the senses and emotions. The faithful will have a pretty good idea of what to expect, but for newcomers and the uninitiated, Sleep Token presents a wild mix that may be confusing and even off-putting to a casual observer. However, if the listener can lock in, it's a refreshing thrill to hear so many styles smashed together. Smooth jazz saxophone, sweeping strings, and twinkling piano crash into crushing djent-y riffs, pummeling drums, and proggy time signatures…

Born in Philadelphia on 11th December 1938, as a youth McCoy Tyner was encouraged to study piano by his mother and began lessons at age 13. Within two years music had become the focal point in his life and Tyner was playing on his neighbor's instrument, but his family soon invested in one of his own for the budding musician, following which he began hosting jam sessions at home. Among his friends were a number of other young musicians who would go on to make their mark in the field of jazz, including Lee Morgan, Archie Shepp, Bobby Timmons, Reggie Workman, and most notably, fellow pianist Bud Powell and his brother Richie. McCoy later said, Bud and Richie Powell moved into my neighborhood. Bud was a major influence on me during my early teens. He was very dynamic. Tyner later attended the West Philadelphia Music School and the Granoff School Of Music.

Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water was the hottest album in the land in 1970, and Paul Simon's tunes from that and their earlier albums unexpectedly find a congenial advocate in Paul Desmond. Against the odds as determined by bopsters, Desmond finds something beautiful, wistful, and/or sly to say in each of these ten tunes, backed by Herbie Hancock's Rhodes electric piano and a set of ravishing, occasionally overstated (as in "America") orchestrations by Don Sebesky. "The 59th Street Bridge Song" is given a jaunty, carefree rendition, adapting quite well to a jazz treatment (after all, Desmond's old teammate in the Brubeck quartet Joe Morello played drums on S&G's original record) and Desmond even does some cascading overdubs on his solo part. "Cecilia" is a fast samba, Desmond cleverly works his old "Sacre Blues" into the solo on "El Condor Pasa," and the title track has a breathtakingly pretty fadeout…

East coast band with strong Canterbury school besides Muffins or Happy The Man and RIO influences. However delivers a very experimental music rich in wind instruments, acoustic guitars and many vintage keyboards. They use their musical abilities to build upon the Gentle Giant and Canterbury foundation to create a music that can only be described as one of the better American efforts from the late '70s into the '80s.
"Sudden Dusk" (1981) has the feel if not the actual sound of the English Canterbury school married with a detectable American folk influence, producing rock/chamber compositions of unusual beauty and dimension… The usual reference points given include Zappa, National Health, Gentle Giant and the like, but the similarities to those groups are only in that these are first rate players and the fact that the music is often complex…

Presented in an 11 x 11 hardbound book, the set also features rare and unseen photos from the era, a replica tour book, and three stand-alone posters.
The Eagles took 18 months between their fourth and fifth albums, reportedly spending eight months in the studio recording Hotel California. The album was also their first to be made without Bernie Leadon, who had given the band much of its country flavor, and with rock guitarist Joe Walsh. As a result, the album marks a major leap for the Eagles from their earlier work, as well as a stylistic shift toward mainstream rock…
