Clifford Brown One of the greatest trumpeters of all time, Clifford Brown's death in a car accident at the age of 25 was one of the most profound losses to the jazz world. Yet, "Brownie" (as he was affectionately known) left behind one of the most impressive and lasting bodies of work, and it continues to hold sway on musicians decades after his passing. Brown was master of the trumpet, blessed with a warm, fat tone and deep grasp of bebop harmony. Influenced by his idol Fats Navarro, he quickly rose through the ranks of the leading trumpeters of his time, ascending to the top echelon alongside icons like Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. Following his early work with Tadd Dameron and Art Blakey, Brown cemented his place in jazz history forming his landmark quintet with drummer Max Roach and recording a handful of classic albums in Clifford Brown & Max Roach, Brown and Roach Incorporated, and Study in Brown, all of which helped define the hard bop sound of the late '50s. It's hard to believe that he was still improving at the time of his death in 1956. Born in 1930 in Wilmington, Delaware, Brown became interested in music at a young age and even sang in a family vocal group alongside his three brothers. By age 13, he was playing trumpet at school and taking private lessons with noted Delaware trumpeter and educator Robert "Boysie" Lowery.

Anna Torge began her musical education at the age of three. After finishing school, she studied at the Heidelberg/Mannheim University of Music with Keith Harris (mandolin) and Walter Schumacher-Löffler (guitar). She then enrolled at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln to study modern and historical mandolin with Marga Wilden-Hüsgen and guitar with Dieter Kreidler.[1] She also studied elementary music education and earned an academic master's degree in music education at the Cologne University of Dance and Music.

It was inspired by cosmic metal band Blood Incantation's invitation to cross the bridge of genre limitations and unleash our sonic passions together on the same stage for the premiere of their stunning "Absolute Elsewhere” album; it was an opportunity to present my live music to a new audience. The set was built from the elements of my 2024 US tour that presents the full range of my music over 2 hours. Mystical deep ambient - atmospheric to multilayered sequencer woven trance merging to tribal and acoustic infused Dreamtime realms. In this setting I took this 2 hour trajectory I have been performing in large Cathedrals and Churches and compressed this into a 60 min hyperblending of constant shapeshifting.

Weimar Staatskapelle With ancestry stretching back to late medieval times, the Staatskapelle Weimar has deeper roots than almost any other German musical ensemble. Like many other German orchestras active in the 18th and 19th centuries, it has been associated with a theater, the present-day Deutsches Nationaltheater in Weimar. The orchestra started life well before that, in 1482, as the Herzoglichen Hofkapelle or Ducal Court Ensemble.

Friedhelm Flamme (born 1963) is a German organist, choral director, musicologist, music educator.

Early on in his career, Wagner composed two symphonies, both of which are included on this disc. The Symphony in C, which he wrote when he was just nineteen years old, is heavily influenced by Beethoven in its character, mood, and instrumentation. Written two years later, in 1834, the Symphony in E was left unfinished, Wagner completing only the first movement and thirty bars of the second. The completed version recorded here was prepared by the conductor Felix Mottl more than fifty years later at the request of Wagners widow, Cosima. The two marches on this disc are the composers most obvious contributions to the genre of pomp and circumstance.

The oeuvre of Johannes Ockeghem influenced a considerable number of musicians who were contemporaries with, or came immediately after, the Master of Tours. Many of these talented composers took one of his works as a model, thus bearing eloquent testimony to their admiration for him. All of them visited him and helped popularize his image as a benevolent father figure to this amazing caste of singers and composers. Ockeghem s death at a ripe old age in 1497 greatly affected the brilliant generation that was in the process of making the transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and naturally led to the creation of some deeply moving music.

Carl Philipp Emanuel was the most famous and successful son of the great Johann Sebastian. He was a protagonist of the Empfindsame Stil, intended to express true and natural feelings, featuring sudden contrasts of mood en emotions. This is especially applicable to the sets of variations for keyboard, in which the composer lets his imagination free reign, varying from purely ornamental variations of an instrumental/technical nature, to the complete change of character.

In 1956, Bernard Haitink conducted the Concertgebouworkest for the first time and together they would play more than 1,500 concerts across the globe. Besides his modesty, his humanity, his musical taste, and his honesty to the music, three words come to mind when one thinks of Haitink and his orchestra: Sound, Trust and Magic. Jörgen van Rijen, Principal trombone of the Concertgebouworkest, said at a memorial concert in February this year, “Every time with him [Haitink] the orchestra sounded warmer, deeper and richer, from the first moment he started to rehearse. How he did that is difficult to tell … he always gave us musicians the feeling he trusted you, that he was there to help, not to interfere.”

Before becoming a solo act, Linda Ronstadt was the lead singer of the Stone Poneys, an L.A.-based trio with an acoustic folkish sound and strong original material. The band's focal point and greatest asset was Ronstadt's clear, powerful singing. Originally recording in a coffeehouse folk style not far removed from Peter, Paul and Mary, the group rocked up its sound slightly and scored a Top 20 hit with "Different Drum," written by Mike Nesmith of the Monkees, in 1967.
