Known best as a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, American jazz trombonist Curtis Fuller also contributed to many classic jazz recordings, but, crucially, was a fine bandleader in his own right whose late 1950s and early 1960s output remains his best work. This four CD set features music from the era during which Curtis Fuller was at his musical prime, and when he released the strongest records of his career as leader or co-leader. Esoteric Recordings is pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered, re-mixed and expanded 3 disc clamshell box edition of the classic album, “Barclay James Harvest and Other Short Stories”. Recorded and released in 1971, the album was the third by BJH and was recorded at Abbey Road studios and was co-produced by the band and ex-Pretty Things member Wally Allen. Widely regarded (along with “Once Again”) as one of the band’s early masterpieces, “…Other Short Stories” featured such classic tracks as ‘Medicine Man’, ‘Ursula (The Swansea Song)’, ‘The Poet’ and the epic ‘After the Day’. The album was critically acclaimed upon its release by Harvest Records and was also issued by Sire Records in the United States with some remixed versions of tracks. The album also featured the Barclay James Harvest symphony orchestra conducted by Martyn Ford and arrangements by Toni Cooke and Martyn Ford.

Alex G's Headlights is his tenth full-length album and his first with RCA Records. The album was written by Giannascoli and recorded across various locations in Philadelphia and New York. It was co-produced alongside his longtime collaborator Jacob Portrait. Headlights is a gorgeous collection of surreal storytelling over twelve new songs. Giannascoli delves further into the reality-bending terrain that has made him one of the twenty-first century's most celebrated and influential musical architects.

Acclaimed trumpeter Hugh Pascall brings his quintet back to Dean St. after last year’s sold out show, presenting brand new music alongside selections from his two albums as bandleader. Described as “An outstanding soloist” with “the most beautiful, elegant and melodic delivery” by London Jazz News, his unique, lyrical, exciting approach to post-bop jazz is of “remarkable fluency and assurance” (- The Jazzmann).

Inspired to enter the field of electronic music by Britain's acid house explosion of the late '80s, Toby Marks took quite a different spin on electronica with his recordings as Banco de Gaia, introducing elements of Eastern and Arabic music, sampling similarly exotic sources, and tying the whole to ambient-dub rhythms. Marks began releasing cassette-only albums in the early '90s, distributed through a network of clubs and artists known as Planet Dog. When Planet Dog became a record label as well (later the home of Eat Static and Timeshard), Banco de Gaia debuted on disc with the Desert Wind EP, released in November 1993. Early the following year, Marks released his first album, Maya.
Maya offers the strongest recollection of acid house of anything in his discography, with light, airy breakbeats and endlessly pleasant pianos rippling against a large backdrop of Asian influences…

A trio with a really wonderful vibe – captured here in a set of live recordings from the early 80s, a time when all three players were really resonating together with a very unique sense of energy! All three players are certainly ones who can come on strong when they want – Joachim Kuhn on piano, Daniel Humair on drums, and Jean-Francois Jenny-Clark on bass – yet here, they often really find time to open up the space between the notes – not in ways that are mellow, or in an ECM sort of style – but just to allow the bolder expressions to come across with even more bite – almost as if they open the sonic space first, then find ways to fill it on the long improvisations on the set! The accompanying booklet features rare photographs and memorabilia from the event and also includes liner notes that set the scene.British quality label Memphis Recording Service (MRS) released another special edition for the true Elvis collector. In June 2025 we saw 'Las Vegas – Down In The Alley – Opening Night 1974' on both CD Deluxe and 2LP Gatefold (available in black and transparent vinyl). This release features Elvis' complete opening show from August 19, 1974 at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, at the start of his eleventh season in Sin City. For the first time, this original recording has been remastered and mixed in stereo, creating a unique listening experience of this historic concert. What's special about this show is the strikingly renewed setlist, with songs like Down in the Alley, Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues, It's Midnight and If You Talk in Your Sleep. Fans of the classics will also get their money's worth with songs like Polk Salad Annie, Bridge Over Troubled Water and Can't Help Falling in Love. The release is accompanied by a handsome booklet featuring rare photos and memorabilia from the show, as well as liner notes that place the concert in context.
