Luke Vibert has worked with the acid sound for decades, with traces of the 303 audible on his earliest work, including his first Wagon Christ long players. Machine Funk sees him present a vivid, at times chaotic interpretation of the acid sound. "Juxtafication" is a 303-infused, easy listening piece, while Vibert's propensity to make home-listening beats is audible on "Nonce Tarter". He veers into his signature left of centre electronic sound on "Budstep", while a dance floor friendly iteration is audible on the low-slung groove of "Major Miner". Vibert retains this clubby focus on "Taming of the View", an acid-soaked electro roller.

Adapt or Die: Ten Years of Remixes is a half-accurate title for this discerning compilation of Everything but the Girl's commissioned mixes. It actually entails 15 years of remixes, spanning from the dawn of the '90s through 2004. (To be fair, the four remixes performed since 1999 were done specifically for this set.) "Adapt or Die" is, however, an ideal way to indicate the duo's approach to remaining relevant to club music for such an extended period of time. These tracks also show that keeping up with trends in dance doesn't always have to be at the expense of timelessness.
