56:33 | Prog Rock, Symphonic Rock | Label: Homespun

Homespun takes you back to step into a new musical universe. Mike Oldfield's concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on June 25th, 1973 was the very first live performance of Tubular Bells in its entirety–a highly experimental and ambitious work that had only been released a month prior (May 1973). For many in the audience, it would have been their first exposure to the piece live, and possibly their first time hearing something quite like it at all. This live radio broadcast from BBC Radio 1 has been remastered here to transport you to the otherworldly and ethereal planes where prog met classical music in a live experimental sound collage.

    Guests:
    Mick Taylor - guitar
    Steve Hillage on Lead Guitar
    Pierre Mourlen on Percussion
Viv Stanshall as Master Of Ceremonies

    1. Tubular Bells Part 1
