Recorded live at N-Club (Natsa), Helsinki, Finland on 10th February 1971 by YLE.

Natsa (then officially N-Clubi) on Kasarminkatu was a popular gig and meeting place for musicians from Helsinki. Some were even suspected of living there because they were there every night – excluding gig nights. Before Tavastia came to power, it also offered bands perhaps the most performance opportunities. If the music was a bit complicated, there weren't too many gigs in the provinces, so it was worth playing where the music enthusiasts were as a home field advantage.

From this recording made by Yleisradio on February 10, 1971, you can really feel the atmosphere of the evening, and it's hard not to wonder why Wigwam was so praised. At that time, the line-up was established as a quartet, Jim Pembroke (vocals and piano), Jukka Gustavson (vocals and organ), Pekka Pohjola (bass) and Ronnie Österberg (drums). Wigwam had made two acclaimed albums, "Hard'n Horny" and "Tombstone Valentine", so the third was eagerly awaited. Natsa's gig presents a couple of songs worth of samples from it. Since the program also included borrowed songs, this one also includes a version of The Band's classic King Harvest (Has Surely Come). From the previous album "Tombstone Valentine" you can hear Pembroke's Captain Supernatural, but in a much more sophisticated interpretation than the album version. The performance is almost frightening in its grandeur.

From the upcoming "Fairyport" record, its opening Losing Hold is heard, the so-called jjätsäpä (such a term was sometimes used), which combines Gustavson and Pohjola's most striking composer gifts with Pembroke's lyricism. Indeed, this is the only song ever credited to the trio. Österberg takes over the heavy bass and organ beginning, and once again I'm not left wondering why I consider him the best drummer in the world. Losing Hold is of course also excellent as a studio recording, but a kick like this could not be recorded in our country's recording studios.

The title track of the upcoming "Fairyport" album was not included on the aforementioned "Fresh Garbage", which is surprising. The reason is probably that Gustavson's composition was too long to be included. But now there is an opportunity to hear a concert version that differs from the final album version. The big mystery, on the other hand, is why Pembroke's Nothing Shows never ended up in "Fairyport". It would have been one of the best songs on the album.

"Live At Natsa" offers an excellent time jump to what was done in our country's rock music in the early 1970s. And how great! I wish I had been born seven years earlier…
