This is a rare album from a Rupert Holmes project before he went solo. (His best known song is Escape (The Pina Colada Song)). Jennifer Tomkins spent 3 months on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart during the first part of 1970. It actually entered the charts the middle of December, 1969. The song reached #36 on the charts and the B side was "All Night Long". Both of those songs were co-written by Rupert. Thank You Girl also touched the bottom of the Billboard Hot 100. The Street People were a studio group and this is their only album.
Avax has some GREAT vinyl rippers with EXCELLENT equipment.
NOTE: I am NOT one of them!!
I have a few albums that are not commonly posted and I would like to share one now and then. None of the albums are classics or great or audiophile or anything like that. Most are just curiosities that I have acquired here and there and as such may not appeal to a wide audience. Being wildly popular really isn't the goal. I wanted to share something that most people haven't seen before in the best quality I could provide. I hope the few that are interested will feel like they have found something a little unique. This album has never been issued on cd to my knowledge and there is no info on the album or the group in AMG (All Music Guide).
I just recently figured out how to stitch scans so I am now able to post the artwork as well as the audio. I make no claim to be worth a damn at this but I gave it my best effort. If you don't hear the vinyl noise…… you need to have you hearing checked by a professional. Please keep the above in mind when or if you choose to comment. Having said that, I do believe that most people will find the album very listenable as far as the quality of the rip. It will also make you more fully appreciate the spectacular efforts of the other needle droppers that share at Avax. Those guys amaze me. I have really enjoyed their vinyl rips. They are all better than I am.
As far as the source material goes, this album is an original pressing that is in good condition. The cover is in pretty good shape and still has the original shrink wrap. The cover does have a punch hole in the lower left.
Pioneer Pl-516 turntable (1980 or so)
Shure M97xE cartridge (used less than 10 hours)
Radio Shack shielded cables with gold connectors (probably fool's gold)
Pioneer QX8000A Quad receiver (1973) (Don't laugh, it was top of the line when I bought it.)
Soundcard is whatever is built into my Intel DG965WH motherboard. (Ya think I should upgrade?)
Cakewalk Pyro 2004 (Yep. I have been using this cheap software for 6 yrs but at least I don't have to make payments.)
