    Platinum is a record album written and mostly performed by Mike Oldfield. It was his fifth studio album and the first to feature songs and cover material. With this album, Oldfield began to make an attempt to break down his extended structures into a more commercially acceptable format, with the sidelong title track being separated into four sections. Released in 1979, it peaked at #24 on the UK Albums Chart.
