    Seven years after "Ash & Ice", The Kills have finally announced the successor called "God Games" in 2023.

    On the twelve songs, Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince venture into new sonic realms without losing the band's signature urgency. "God Games" focuses on the original call-and-response between Mosshart's haunting vocal performance and Hince's spot-on guitar playing. They've expanded on The Kills' signature sound and decided to write from new perspectives. For the first time, the duo composed primarily on piano and incorporated innovative electronic and horn textures.

    Work on "God Games" began in 2019 and the duo moved into an old church to record the album with Academy- and Grammy Award-winning producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Paul McCartney, among others), who was their very first soundman in 2002.

    Then, in late July, they released the double single "New York/LA Hex," the first new music The Kills have released since 2016. "LA Hex" focuses its gaze on the emotional and interpersonal realities of modern life in Los Angeles.

    Meanwhile, "103," the next precursor to "God Games," has been unearthed. "103" (Fahrenheit) illuminates the brutal reality of the city's frightening unlivability through the lens of a dark, twisted love song. Mosshart sings cutting lyrics like "stick with me under the last palm tree / and sip a little water from the dirty fountain meant to be."
