    Initial cuts from French duo The Blaze showcased their electronic influences, however with this new album they’ve gone above and beyond with their sizzling percussions, mournful vocals and trance-like sounds.

    Opening with conveniently titled dance track ‘Opening’, the looping cut crafts a sense of wonder in ticking beats and soulful lyrics. Taking a soft approach, ‘Breath,’ opens with a nonchalant ray of harmonies, followed shortly by vocals by Jonathan Alric and Guillaume.

    Whilst most of the album conveys buoyant tracks, ‘Breath,’ edges its way to sombre lyric patterns and smooth beats. The backing is the prominent essence of each track. And a theme exhibited throughout the album. Whilst songs, ‘Runaway,’ ‘Faces,’ and ‘Rise,’ all have a main concentration of distorted background noises - It’s clear the vocals aren’t at the main point of the narrative.

    For each cut, the lyrics show a consistency in being humble, amongst the juddering loop of each instrumental. Similarly, to, ‘Breath,’ third track, ‘She,’ is a sombre ballad with nonchalant acoustics, and melodic harmonies. This dancehall-inspired track creates nicely for a relaxing summer, long car journey bop.

    Hook ridden line, “so long,” is repeated throughout the song, ‘Queen,’ an infectious lyric that bobs alongside the chopped and screwed backbeat of production. Whilst, ‘Queen’ has little to no lyrics, the simplistic interchange of sound creates for a calming, minimalistic tone. The perfect tune for a day of unwinding. Industrial, earthy and better yet, lucid.

    ‘Mount,’ completes the album on a gloomy, yet simplistic note, completing an, ‘until next time,’ atmosphere. Concluding the album on a dark, rather mystic tone. ‘Mount,’ is a wild spin on the album's tracklist.
