Mad Caddies - Punk Rocksteady (2018)

Ska-punk vets Mad Caddies teamed with NOFX’s Fat Mike for a new album called Punk Rocksteady, where they recorded reggae, ska, and/or dancehall covers of 12 punk songs, hand-picked by Fat Mike, who produced the record. The songs include Misfits’ “Some Kind of Hate,” the Descendents’ “Jean Is Dead,” Against Me!’s “Sink, Florida, Sink,” Bad Religion’s “Sorrow,” and Green Day’s “She,” the latter of which premieres in this post. It’s “She” like you’ve never heard it before, and you can hear it for yourself below.

Mad Caddies vocalist Chuck Robertson said, “We had a grand vision that we needed to have four-to-six sounds on here. We needed to have traditional ska, super horn-heavy dancehall songs, reggae, SoCal stuff, and we needed to have something new and weird that we could make our own.” “This has been one of [Fat Mike’s] dream projects for a long time,” added guitarist Sascha Lazor.
