In the early seventies, the triumvirate of funk wisdom-James Brown, Sly Stone, George Clinton-was no longer alone. In the four corners of the American territory, groups more or less inspired by their precepts begin to swarm. The big radio stations struggle to take over and the action takes place mainly in clubs and on specialty airwaves. Gradually, the majors become aware of the commercial potential of certain formations that they hope to format for the white audience. Since the Founding Fathers James, Sly and George were not the ideal vehicles for these Machiavellian plans, they had to dig elsewhere. The letters of nobility of funk are inscribed in the guest book, remains to ship them on the springboard of the market of the consumer society.
