"Strange Angels" is the debut solo album by British guitarists David Mark Pearce. Having served the progressive rock genre as the lead guitarist for Oliver Wakemen's band, Pearce enters melodic hard rock territory with this solo effort "Strange Angels". Indeed "Strange Angels" has more in common with `80s melodic rock, even glam metal than the progressive nature of David's previous ventures. On this effort, Pearce is supported by an impressive cast of musicians most notable being Goran Edman ("YJM Rising Force") and John Payne ("Asia") both of which contribute lead vocals.

"Strange Angels" is all about intense melodic hard rock materializing in razor sharp riffs, a good dose of melodic keyboards, flamboyant rhythm section and unforgettable choruses. Take the opening song "Alone I cry", a power melodic rocker built on great performances, a classic-as-it-gets chorus, coming out totally unforced and natural. "Shelter me from the rain" is probably the most Adult oriented rocker to be found on "Strange Angels" while the instrumental composition is a true testament to melodic guitar phrasing uncovering a great deal of Pearce's talent. Finally there is "Tell me why", an ambitious melodic hard rock epic where Payne lays a stellar performance delivering the song in a totally rhetorical fashion.

Overall "Strange Angels" is another quality propositions for fans melodic hard rock/glam metal; indeed a rather unexpected musical entry by Mark Pearce and co that leaves its mark in 2011 melodic rock non the less.
