    Secondo LP dei Crazy Horse dopo il gigantesco "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" (Reprise, 1969) - il primo di Neil Young & Crazy Horse - e l'eponimo "Crazy Horse" (Reprise, 1971), primo disco tout-court del leggendario roster californiano. "Loose" esce per la Reprise nel gennaio del 1972 con la co-produzione di Fred Catero e con un cambio di line-up rispetto ai lavori precedenti. In particolare già rispetto a "Crazy Horse". Due cambiamenti sono enormi. Esce dal gruppo Danny Whitten, vocalist, chitarrista e fondatore del "cavallo". Morirà tragicamente nel novembre di quell'anno dopo lunghe sofferenze per problemi di salute e dopo un periodo segnato dall'abuso di droghe e dopo aver preso suonato per un periodo con The Stray Gators, il gruppo di supporto di Young tra il 1971 e il 1973. L'altra grande perdita è Nils Lofgren. E lascia il gruppo anche Jack Nitzsche. Confermati Billy Talbot al basso e Ralph Molina alla batteria, i Crazy Horse si completano con gli ingressi di George Whitsell e Greg Leroy alle chitarre e John Blanton alle tastiere. La maggioranza dei pezzi sono di Whitsell, ma de facto sono loro tre a scrivere tutti i pezzi del disco (Blanton: Hit and Run, Kind of Woman; Whitsell: Try, Move, All Alone Now, You Won't Miss Me, I Don't Believe It, One Sided Love, And She Won't Even Blow Smoke In My Direction; Leroy: One Thing I Love, All The Little Things, Fair Weather Friend, Going Home), che definirei un LP di musica pop-rock americana e country-rock con i segni dei grandi "classici" del genere. Evidenti i richiami al primo Young e ai Buffalo Springfield, non mancano spruzzate di Brian Wilson. Soffre per forza di cose il passare degli anni e non offre comunque spunti particolarmente rilevanti. Sicuramente tutti i pezzi sono radiofonici, qualche cosa è più rock and roll (Move, One Sided…) le cose più interessanti sono alcuni intrecci di chitarra tipo su All The Little Things e su All Alone Now.
