    Bury Tomorrow have long been a jewel in the crown of British heavy music. Their last offering, The Seventh Sun, marked a turning point for the Southampton crew, almost a reset after a rocky period, and the beginning of an exciting new chapter. This rejuvenation can be felt on their brutal eighth studio album, Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience. It marks a brooding evolution, with the band taking a pitch-black dive into emotional collapse and catharsis, and possibly their their most captivating record yet.
    Their sound has become even more expansive, for one thing. Opener To Dream, To Forget produces an eerie vibe, as a fast-paced drum’n’bass-ish beat slowly marches in before erupting into a gargantuan riff, and a song chomping at the bit. Villian Arc swiftly follows to drag you further into the abyss. Here, frontman Dani Winter-Bates goes full inferno, with his vocals crossing the threshold into deathcore-level extremity at times. It’s raw, it’s terrifying, and it’s arguably one of the most visceral moments in the band’s discography.
    Wasteland finds the sextet exploring new territory, an example of how they execute elements of their sound at the right moment. It opens with a stomping, marching crunch before flipping its course into a high-octane barrage. Then you’re met with Waiting, a song that's like taking a sledgehammer to the chest. It’s the heaviest Bury Tomorrow have ever sounded, twitching with feral energy, layered in churning riffs, and marked by a vocal performance that conjures early Slipknot at their most volatile.
    Later, the album twists and turns with electronic moments adding to the beauty of their darkness. Silence Isn’t Helping feels like it started life as a club banger, pulsing with synthetic undertones, before being crushed under a wave of guitar, while Paradox closes proceedings with one final assault, and a firm reminder that this band continue to be the masters of their craft.
    What really sells Will You Haunt Me, With The Same Patience is its sense of purpose. This isn’t heaviness for heaviness’ sake: it’s precise, emotional and deeply personal. And once again, it proves how special Bury Tomorrow truly are.
