Britny Fox is an American glam metal band from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, initially active from 1985 to 1992 then subsequently reforming from 2000 to 2009 and then again reforming in 2015. They are best known for their music video for "Girlschool" and their minor hit "Long Way to Love" (U.S. No. 100). Boys in Heat is the second album by Britny Fox, released in 1989. After this album, singer "Dizzy" Dean Davidson left the group and formed the band "Blackeyed Susan". He was replaced in Britny Fox by singer Tommy Paris. The album debuted at No. 79 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The song "Hair of the Dog" was originally recorded by Nazareth on the album Hair of the Dog (1975).

Despite the title, the boys seemed to have cooled off substantially since their scorching debut. Dizzy Dean's attempts at singing straight on the majority of these tunes rob the band of its raw edge, and the ultra-clean acoustic guitars backing many of the midtempo tracks are too clearly derived from Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." Unfortunately, the band tames its strip club mentality for a more mature outlook on relationships, only to find they have nothing to say on the subject. The saving grace of Boys in Heat is the first side, which fires on all cylinders and rarely misses. It's the second half that threatens to sink the ship, with very few of the throwaway tunes holding any water whatsoever. Not a total wash-up, but indicative of the lack of quality control which would soon tank the genre.

Britny Fox were a typical glam-rock bar band from Philadelphia. In 1985 they met Michael Kelly Smith (guitar) from up-and-coming band Cinderella, and before long the guitarist had defected from his former band to join the Philly boys' ranks. Naming themselves Britny Fox after one of singer Dizzy Dean Davison's Welsh ancestors, the band copped Cinderella's theatrical look and recorded their first demo, In America, with other members including Billy Childs on bass and Johnny Dee on drums. To show that there were no hard feelings, Cinderella helped the band get a record contract with Columbia, who released their self-titled debut to great acclaim and near-platinum sales. Lead single "Long Way to Love" made heavy rotation on MTV, but the equally rocking follow-up, "Girlschool," failed to ignite even in the specialized format of the video station's Headbanger's Ball. Nevertheless, Britny Fox won Metal Edge magazine's Best New Band award in 1988.
