Mille Plateaux returns with a fifth installment of their influential Clicks and Cuts series. They've invited a heap of new artists to the label for 'Paradigm Shift' but still maintain a focus on sparse electronic minimalism with modern dub elements. Nicolaus' 'Inner CC Fade' creates a drafty post-industrial drone zone with skeletal percussion and Klive's 'Sweaty Psalms' heads through densely gaseous but glassy electro-acoustic textures. More familiar names like Gultskra Artikler and Aoki Takamasa give feverish drone tronics and glitch-hop respectively while Loom's 'Isolex 03' sculpts an ultra-precise dubtech stepper and Marow's 'E. Coli' reminds of 'Tender Love' era SND. Lovers of the old compilations shouldn't be disappointed with the label's new look.
