The Dream is the eighth studio album released by English electronic group The Orb in August 2007. The album features somewhat of a return to the earlier sound of the Orb (notably, "The Truth Is…" features the same vocal sample as the group's early-90s single, "Blue Room"), and shares much more in common with their 2004 album Bicycles and Tricycles than with their minimal 2005 release, Okie Dokie It's the Orb on Kompakt.

"I felt so much love and inspiration entering into motherhood that I just needed to create something really powerful," explains Samantha Poulter, the Berlin-based DJ and producer, who grew up in the Sydney suburbs and better known to fans as Logic1000. That vitality and renewed sense of purpose is captured on her debut album Mother. The 12-track set is a laser-focused "love letter to house music," written in collaboration with her husband and long-time creative partner Thom McAlister.

Gary Numan is known for robotic, stylized singing. His primitive electronics and pre-"new romantic" sound did nothing for me. A myriad, zealous voices will tell you that Numan was sings "good songs." Now, in this 2-CD collection of Numan interpretations you can hear those good songs without Numan's idiosyncratic delivery. The known and the unknown join to make proto-dance music out of mechanical master's material. Matt Sharp (Weezer) and Damon Albarn (Blur) cover "We Have a Technical." Also on the compilation are Gravity Kills, EMF, The Magnetic Fields, Jesus Jones, the out-of-place hip hop group Underdog (but, there's only one of them), Sukia, The Orb, Pop Will Eat Itself. One of my favorite cuts is "Metal" by Towering Inferno. Brian Eno described their Kaddish album as "frightening" and they are here joined by Eddie Reader. I also am very fond of the two versions of "Are 'Friends' Electric?" Techno rockers Republicaare joined by Numan himself for one version and Belgian discovery An Pierle offers another.

Boundary caught our ears when he was just a 19-year-old, a true genius, making music with a maturity and depth well beyond his years. Fast forward a few years we're back in full swing at Exotic HQ, and absolutely gassed to get Boundary onto the label with a transcendent LP that hits you right in the feels.
Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Boundary leans heavily on all the good stuff from early Detroit techno, UK & Japanese ambient, and leftfield techno, stitching things together with immaculate drum programming, wandering basslines, and ethereal pads. Sometimes brilliantly raw and gritty, at other times delicate and refined, this is an LP that ranges from deep, glassy ambient through to 140 bpm (and beyond!) pumpers. It's classy techno from start to finish, think Aphex Twin meets PLO Man with an early Detroit twist.

Welcome to ‘LXXXVIII’ - the ninth Actress album to be created by Actress (Darren Cunningham) and the very first presentation of Actress’ voyage into luxury sonics.
A lifetime in the making, ‘LXXXVIII’ is the culmination of 25 years’ honing mind-shorting, soul-igniting audio infusions for dance floors, rave dens, festivals, and concert halls.
‘LXXXVIII’ pays dividends to meditate on an instrumental facet of its creation: game theory. Indeed, deep strategic thinking - more readily associated with economics and chess than artistic practice - was fundamental to Actress’ process as ‘LXXXVIII’ was channelled into existence…

I frequently have people say to me they love all the 'dark disco' releases on the label. To be perfectly honest I had never really thought about it and while I endlessly come up with new genre names it is not one that had crossed my mind.
But, it got me thinking and I realised there are a strand of releases on the label that might fit that tag so I decided to compile them into this easy to find selection that might lead people to explore some other releases they hadn't previously come across. You can argue among yourselves over the Darkside Disco-ness of the contents, but whatever, the quality of the music is undeniable!
