An Impressive Debut. This is a masterwork that truly shows the anger and technicality that came from Carnivore, mixed with the angst and atmosphere that evolved into what we now know and love as Type O Negative…
Originally titled None More Negative, the album is considered the catapult to launching the band's career (which later skyrocketed with Bloody Kisses and October Rust). While the album definitely has a rawness that was prominent on Peter Steele's previous band Carnivore, it does incorporate elements that would become standard for Type O Negative. Therefore, fans are divided on this album. Either way, it remains a merging of styles including doom metal, thrash metal, gothic rock, and industrial music. Piero Scaruffi, a music historian, has called the album the best heavy metal album of all time, giving it 9/10.

Roadrunner Records is proud to present the newly remastered edition of Type O Negative's classic debut album, Slow, Deep & Hard. This reissued comes packaged in a jewel case, wrapped in an O-card featuring original album art. The CD features the entire album, painstakingly remastered from start to finish. The expanded booklet contains all the original content, plus a behind-the-scenes viewpoint of not only making the record, but the international chaos that followed its release, as told by Josh Silver and Kenny Hickey.

Type O Negative - Slow, Deep And Hard (1991) [Roadrunner Remaster 2009]

Type O Negative's melodramatic goth rock style encompasses long songs built on simple riffs, theatrical shouting vocals, churchy-sounding organ and vocal-harmony passages, and the odd mechanical noise. Vocalist Pete Steele, who wrote all the songs, shows an obnoxious sense of humor, but directs it at himself and the band as much as everyone else he doesn't like. There are some very un-PC sentiments on several topics, chiefly breakups, which, although comically dramatic, are quite suitable for angry moping.
