    Richard Wahnfried - Tonwelle (1981)
    Ambient, Experimental | MP3 @ 320 | 63:08 | 222 MB | Rec. 10%

Here is something I got about this "Tonwelle" project,it's probably the booklets of the album's new edition too.I quote:"Klaus Schulze, grandmaster of electronic music, created with the Richard Wahnfried project a group of ever changing quest msuciains of world-class,producing music that set new dimensions.Hit-vocalist Arthur Brown (remember the chart-buster "Fire"?) or the exceptional "Santana" percussion player Michael Shrieve added tight rock elements to Klaus Schulze's compositions, making truly incredible music accesible to a wider audience. This 2nd album,"Tonwelle" was a huge insider hit in Europe.Trendy in-discos played it and they still do.Tracks like "Druck/Pressure" or "Schwung/Momentum" are of a timeless class by themselves,Schulze's music is brilliantly highlighted by the rapid-fire percussion of Michael Shrieve, and an internationally very famous and popular guitarist, pseudonym "Karl Wahnfried".He is assisted on guitar by Manuel Gottsching,of famous German band "Asrha",who also had a disco-hit in 1989/90 with the maxi "Sueno Latino",using parts of his "E2/E4" for the hit-charting re-mix version…"

Sounds very ambiguous and for the causes of excesive promotion, cause "Tonwell" is actually at the half poit on the road towards brilliancy and excellency. It is by no means something of fantastic, superior scales;on the contrary,I place it,making a general corellation of the Richard Wahnfried albums package or stretching it to the enormous sizes of Klaus Schulze's discography, among standard or even mediocre sizes.Of course, the Wahnfried albums are of no sort extraordinary quality products, nothing to complete with Schulze's "authentic","solo" compositions and "Tonwelle" is very far from making an exception.I do not know exactly if the part with "huge insider hit" or "trendy in-discos played it frenetically" is true - or absolutely true (though I doubt it very much;being extinct as far as catalogue number and copies are concerned must have a strong reason),but for me,the Schulze fanboy and the quality addict that I am,it is unsatisfying and (in many aspects) incomplete, unperfectioned.

The fact that the superstars of this album make wonders should be also moderately believed or used in perception. All the roles here blend,so that no one actually exceeds limits of greatness.Well, maybe Shrieve and K.Wahnfried (ha!;ain't gonna spoil his real identity) a little. And for sure none of the members raise "Tonwelle" to miraculous or perfect.Schulze the least of all.I prefer to hear every of the members' "other" work more than what they do here as a contribution.Except maybe Brown. He's cool here.Oh right,Brown isn't here…

Fit for the period,I say.Composed of two parts (two sides),equal as lenght, just like Schulze's "Trancefer" and (partially) "Dig It" present themselves. Two parts, two pieces and nothing more.No special connotations. The structure is very simple, seen generally, one themes generated and evolved through various motives, modulations and perspective moment (yet not complex by this). At least concerning the electronic part,Schulze does similar stuff as in "Trancefer" in rhythms and compositions. The support of the other instruments is half-strong,half voiled.Similar to what the early digital period albums of Schulze (1981-1983) contain,he does here as Wahnfried on the style chapter.Yet not entirely. The disco "heavy-stuff" essence is something with which I still don't cope very much.Only for fans. And keep in mind that this is not Schulze.Wahnfried is NOT Schulze."Time Actor" had a little Schulze flavour."Tonwelle" doesn't have anymore.Instrumental power integrally, except the voice beginning on "Druck".The first part is the best, the second loosens up,though much more into subtile dark, nebulous elements (here and there).

One edition of "Tonwelle" can come, due to it's short lenght, with some bonus tracks from the future 1984 "Megatone" album.Though "Megatone" is,by true meaning,a "gross' album,if you find it like this and you are a collectionist (or-who knows-maybe you like "Megatone"!!),get it,cause "Megatone"'s extinct as well.
