Satoh’s composition Mantra may be easily available, it’s on his Mandara Trilogy. Not so his strangely beautiful Stabat Mater. It’s around in lossy; here’s a lossless version. I needed to have that, as I consider him one of the most fascinating composers to come out of Japan, of whom we hear way too little.

Born in Sendai, Japan in 1947, Satoh is primarily a self-taught musician, strongly influenced by the traditional Japanese music and dance to which he was exposed during childhood. To the musical elements of his native country he has added an almost 19th century sense of Romanticism, updated through extensive use of electronic technology. If the underlying philosophies of his work have been shaped by both Shintoism and Buddhism, his methods have been influenced by the multimedia forms and events of the 1960s. Satoh first worked professionally in experimental music in 1969 with Tone Field, a Tokyo-based experimental mixed-media group. In 1972 he produced a multi-media arts festival entitled "Global Vision." Perhaps his most grandiose work to date was a 1981 installment at a hot springs resort in Tochigi Prefecture. Satoh positioned eight speakers approximately one kilometer apart on the mountaintops surrounding the valley below, pushing and piercing rising clouds of man-made fog with amplified sound and laser beams.
He won a Japan Arts Festival prize in 1980 and in 1983 received a visiting artists grant from the Asian Cultural Council to work in the U.S. for one year. His 50 or so compositions include pieces for theater, orchestra, piano, chamber and choral ensembles, and electronic and traditional Japanese instruments.
