    Recorded live at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco on October 31 –November 3, 2019, the album celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Sly &The Family Stone’s multi-platinum classic Stand!and the Miles Davis fusion landmark In A Silent Way. Released respectively in May and July 1969 by a pair of artists connected by mutual respect, inspiration, and commitment to artistic exploration, both albums were beacons of hope and new possibilities during a turbulent time in American history.

    The SFJAZZ Collective features San Francisco native and vocalist Martin Luther McCoy, tenor saxophonist David Sánchez, trumpeter Etienne Charles, vibraphonist Warren Wolf, pianist Edward Simon, bassist Matt Brewer, guitarist Adam Rogers and drummer Obed Calvaire.

    The single disc release includes selections from these two iconic albums. The selections include “In A Silent Way/It’s About That Time” arranged by Edward Simon; “Shhh/Peaceful” arranged by Warren Wolf; “You Can Make It If You Try” arranged by Adam Rogers; “Everyday People” arranged by Martin Luther McCoy; “Sing A Simple Song” arranged by Etienne Charles; “Stand” arranged by Matt Brewer; “Somebody’s Watching You” arranged by Martin Luther McCoy and Warren Wolf; “Sex Machine” arranged by Warren Wolf; “Don’t Call Me Nigger, Whitey” arranged by Obed Calvaire; and “I Want to Take You Higher” arranged by David Sánchez.
