    New version of the Paco de Lucía Integral, 27 CDs his complete work remastered. "Cositas Buenas", his last album, comes as a new in this new Integral. Now in a new economic format. This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. Following the positive reception for Almoraima, although busy with his concerts with Santana, Paco still found time to present his personal vision of Manuel de Falla, selecting from the work of the composer from Cádiz those pieces most adaptable to the Flamenco melos (Flamenco melody). He takes pieces from the ballets El Amor Brujo and El Sombrero de Tres Picos, from the opera La Vida Breve, and one of the Siete Canciones Populares. The adaptation of these works is viewed through the prism of respect to the maestro, with the intention of serious application, though without stylistic restrictions, with the goal that the result be as Flamenco possible, an art for which Falla professed great admiration.

    The interest of Paco de Lucía in Spanish Classical music goes back to the Doce Canciones de Garcia Lorca para Guitarra (1965) alongside Ricardo Modrego, to the album recorded in 1991 of the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo, and to three pieces from the ‘Suite Iberia’ by Albeniz.
    Fallas couldn’t but use this treasure box of melody, harmony and rhythm offered by the popular music of his place of origin to realise his aesthetic ideals, above all at the peak of European musical nationalism.
    Paco’s adaptations are a masterful elaboration and the interpretations are careful, achieving levels of expressivity of enormous artistic value.
    With the help of a classical guitar and the transcriptions already written for the guitar of Emilio Pujol, Lucía achieves his undertaking of interpreting this music in truly praiseworthy versions. Paco imprints upon every piece the Flamenco character that underlies each original work. He confesses that “my intention wasn’t to put myself into the world of classical music. What I have tried to do is to return Fallas’ music to its roots”.
    With Paco, his brothers, Ramón de Algeciras (guitar) and Pepe de Lucía (vocals), and the group Dolores: Pedro Ruy-Blas on drums, the flautist Jorge Pardo, the Brazilian percussionist Rubem Dantas, and the bassist Alvaro Yebenes. Some time later, in 1980, Yebenes was substituted by Carles Benavent, and The Sextet of Paco de Lucía stayed that way, in its legendary format.
    From the ballet El Sombrero de Tres Picos, composed in 1919 for the Russian ballet of Serge Diaghliev and premiered in the Alhambra theatre of London with figurines and set by Pablo Picasso, Paco de Lucía chose the first three dances: 5, 10, and 1.
    El Amor Brujo, composed by Falla in 1991 and written expressly for Pastora Imperio, opened in Madrid with the subtitle “Gitanería en 1 acto 2 cuadros” (Gypsies in One Act with Two Scenes), although the title of the final version was “Escena Gitana de Andalucía, ballet en un acto”, (Andalusian Gypsy Scene: Ballet in One Act), restructuring the original between 1921 and 1925. The version we know today as El Amor Brujo was premiered by Antonia Merce “La Argentina” and Vicente Escudero in Paris. Paco de Lucía takes tracks 2,3,7,8 and 9 from the definitive 1925 version.
    From the opera in 2 acts La Vida Breve Paco de Lucía takes the famous ‘Danza de la Boda’ (6) form the first scene of the second act.
    Finally, from the Siete Canciones Populares Españolas, written by Falla in 1914, Paco chose the first, titled ‘El Paño Moruno’, the vocals of which were sung by his brother, Pepe.
    Paco’s contact with Falla’s music came to enrich his language, opening it up to new harmonic relations, to explore new melodic terrain, to superimpose this language with Jorge’s flute and Rubem’s percussion, new elements which would condition his language with the guitar and guide him down as yet unexplored paths. This record is an authentic work of art, a milestone in Spanish guitar music, here we find some of the best music made in Spain in 1978, when all was hope for a better world.
