A new voice in contemporary improvisation emerges with the Trio of Bloom, uniting three visionary artists at the forefront of modern music: Craig Taborn (piano, electronics), Nels Cline (guitar, effects), and Marcus Gilmore (drums, percussion).

This ensemble is less a meeting of individual virtuosos than the flowering of a shared soundworld—an immersive space where texture, rhythm, and resonance intertwine in real time. Each musician brings a singular language: Taborn’s kaleidoscopic harmonic imagination and keyboard mastery, Cline’s genre-defying guitar panoramas and painterly use of effects, and Gilmore’s deeply inventive approach to rhythm, drawing on jazz, tradition, and the most forward-looking forms of groove.

Together, the trio explores music that is at once lyrical and abstract, intimate and expansive. Their performances unfold like living organisms, shifting seamlessly between delicate moments of transparency and surges of raw intensity. At times atmospheric and meditative, at others explosive and exultant, Trio of Bloom cultivates a sonic landscape that feels both untethered to genre and deeply rooted in collective listening. The trio’s debut recordings reveal a practice of trust and openness, where improvisation is not a medium for display but a vessel for discovery. The music moves beyond categories—simultaneously grounded in jazz lineage, contemporary composition, and the frontier spirit of experimental sound.
