Bungle, along with DJ Marky, is one Brazilian that’s managed to escape the ‘Sambass’ (Samba & Bass) sound that once made them famous. Recent work such as the massive remix of AI’s ‘Movin On’ has cemented Bungle’s reputation as one of the D&B scene’s brightest young stars. No surprise that someone snapped him up to write an album then, and that’s exactly the shrewd move that Total Science have made. Moving onto the album itself and we’re treated to a slick range of versatile and understatedly gleaming productions, kicked off with a quick intro before dropping into the bass heavy, organ crescendo led title track. From hereon in ‘Down To Earth’ is a ride through stunningly diverse territory, Bungle displays a maturity in his production that most young artists would kill to be able to achieve. Highlights include the catchy bass punch of ‘Resized’ featuring Laura Pacheco, the digital space funk of ‘Snake Eyes’ featuring Total Science & Ayah and the sublime ‘13th Floor’ featuring long time production partner Marky. Not that his solo work is to be snubbed with tracks like the Amen & drone bass workout that is ‘The Fugue’ and the electronically grinding ‘No Return’ on offer, you’d be silly not to give this album a spin.Tracklist:
