Hard Rock / Glam Metal | 20th Anniversary Deluxe Expanded Edition

Digitally remastered and expanded deluxe two discs edition of the Metal band's career-defining album including a bonus nine track CD which contains demos and live tracks. Originally released in 1989, Dr. Feelgood' sold six million copies in the U.S. alone and was certified multi-platinum. This deluxe set comprises the 11-track album, which features guest appearances from Steven Tyler, Bryan Adams, Robin Zander & Rick Neilsen [Cheap Trick], Skid Row and others. Includes the classic singles 'Dr Feelgood', 'Kickstart My Heart', 'Without You', 'Don't Go Away Mad [Just Go Away]' and 'Same Ol' Situation [S.O.S.]'.

Dr. Feelgood topped the Billboard 200 chart, being the first album Mötley Crüe had recorded after their quest for sobriety and rehabilitation in 1989. Canadian producer Bob Rock provided the record with a lush, vibrant sound, applying production values which had been lacking from the band's previous releases. Rock found the process of working with Mötley Crüe difficult, describing the band as "four L.A. bad asses who used to drink a bottle of wine and want to kill each other". In order to minimize conflict and allow production of the record to proceed smoothly, Rock had each member record their parts separately.
Dr. Feelgood has sold more than 6 million copies in the U.S. alone, and went Gold in the U.K. In various interviews, members of Mötley Crüe stated that it was their most solid album from a musical standpoint, due in no small part to their collective push for sobriety. In addition to being Mötley Crüe's bestselling album, it is widely regarded by music critics and fans as being their strongest. The title track and "Kickstart My Heart" were both nominated for Grammys in the Best Hard Rock Category. The band did find some success at the American Music Awards, as Dr. Feelgood was nominated twice for Favorite Hard Rock/Metal Award, losing once to Guns N' Roses' "Appetite for Destruction", but winning the following year, beating out Aerosmith's "Pump" and Poison's "Flesh And Blood". Mötley Crüe was also nominated twice for Favorite Hard Rock/Metal Artist.
To mark the twentieth anniversary of the album, Mötley Crüe performed the album in its entirety at Crüe Fest 2.

    Mötley Crüe - Dr. Feelgood (1989) [2CD - 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, 2009]

Mötley Crüe's albums were a lot like episodes of Married with Children – they may not be great works of art, but they can be darn entertaining. With Bob Rock serving as producer, the L.A. headbangers savored the joys of trashy, unapologetically decadent fun on Dr. Feelgood – an album that made no pretense at being anything else. While nothing here is quite as commanding as "Shout at the Devil", "Wild Side", or "Live Wire", such hook-oriented MTV smashes as "Kickstart My Heart", "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)", and the title song are infectious and hard to resist, and helped make this the best-selling Motley Crue album ever, as well as providing their first Top Ten singles. Unfortunately, the album would be lead singer Vince Neil's last album with the band for several years, thus marking the end of Mötley Crüe's heyday. Neil's departure – and pop-metal's decline in popularity during the mid-'90s – proved to be severe blows to Mötley Crüe, but Dr. Feelgood is still a fine curtain call. In 1999, the Crüe remastered a...eyond label with bonus tracks.
