You know that cliche, “he was never the same man again after…” (fill in). Well, sometimes it’s true.
For me, it was this record that crossed my path when I was 20.
More specifically - Ebony Concerto!!!.
This tiny little concert for wind instruments blew my mind completely. It established my love for classical once and for all. I didn’t touch a pop/rock record for ten years to come, and started to collect classical music at great speed.
What to say about it. About this genius performance of the Nederlands Blazersensemble and Edo de Waart.
I don't know. Words fail me. Listen for yourselves.
The record didn't need a lot of filtering after conversion. This 30-year-old record is in a surprisingly good state. I consider it one of my greatest treasures in my collection. I'm very, very fond of it. So much so that, most sentimentally, I hesitated to post it at first.
