"Quintais" is definitely the most expansive and striking album in the 12-year career of mining group Iconili. The work is the first to record the arrival of singer Josi Lopes and percussionist Chaya Vazquez.

Created in an immersion in the small district of André do Mato Dentro, in Santa Bárbara, in the Serra da Gandarela region, in the interior of Mines - contemplates the band's trajectory, playing unpretentiously in their initial progressive rock, reinventing the afrobeat that emerged in the following works, but, above all, multiplying the group's tracks in plural sounds.

Throughout nine tracks, "Quintais" seems at different times to visit another Brazil and, in it, to look for a range that seems infinite in the shades of red in which it touches - red of the ground of that country, of the land that fills open fields, red up the mud, good mud, clay, water and other riches. It is in this clay red - sometimes dry, sometimes wet, sometimes drenched - that the disc is built, and from that ground of earth the sound reaches, at various moments, a dreamlike, somewhat psychedelic, unconscious sky, somewhat organic, intuitive.

In this terrain, mantras grow, ancestralities are evoked, and from the sound mass, one arrives in Africa, in the Indies (thus, in the plural, where Asia and Americas of the past fit, and where the east of the present is seen). In this context, the voice always appears as a corner connected with the sensitive. And from it, it caresses, it attacks, it prays. And echoes the deep multiplicity of "Quintals".

Composed by André Orandi (keyboards and alto sax), Chaya Vazquez (percussion), Gustavo Cunha (guitar and synth), Henrique Staino (tenor and soprano sax), Josi Lopes (vocals), João Machala (trombone), Lucas Freitas baritone and clarone), Fernando "Feijão" Monteiro - who came to replace Mateus Bahiense (drums) after recording the album, Rafa Nunes (percussion), Rafael Mandacaru (guitar and therm) and Willian Rosa (bass), Iconili combines unique form of strength, subtleties and the ancestral energy of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, rock, afrobeat, with good doses of psychedelia, dives and contemplation.
