    Africa Unite è una band di ispirazione reggae nata a Pinerolo, in provincia di Torino. La data di nascita del gruppo coincide con un anno fatidico per l'intera storia della musica internazionale: 1981, l'anno della prematura scomparsa di Bob Marley. A lui e al titolo di un suo brano è dedicato il nome stesso del gruppo, fondato da Vitale BUNNA Bonino e Francesco MADA Caudullo. In quasi quindici anni di attività, gli AFRICA UNITE hanno espresso con inusuale costanza un livello musicale altissimo, la cui matrice è un reggae di prim'ordine: centinaia di concerti, partecipazioni ad alcuni dei più prestigiosi festival internazionali impongono ben presto gli AFRICA UNITE come una delle realtà di nuova musica italiana più prestigiose e popolari. Nel 1987 esce MJEKRARI, mini album autoprodotto, caratterizzato da una coraggiosa escursione nell'uso della nostra lingua. Nel 1988 LLAKA testimonia la crescita musicale del gruppo. Nel 1991 PEOPLE PIE completa il processo di maturazione e da' definitivamente il via ad un'intensissima attività live che li vede presenti e costantemente attivi in Italia ed Europa, fino a farli arrivare anche in Jamaica, al De Buss di Negril. Ma è nel 1993 che gli AFRICA UNITE pubblicano BABILONIA E POESIA, un album caratterizzato da un forte impatto melodico ed una potenza espressiva assolutamente fuori dal comune, dove la più, tradizionale matrice reggae inizia ad essere contaminata con sperimentazioni dub. Parallelamente alla pubblicazione dell'album, parte anche un lunghissimo tour di oltre cento date che li porta a suonare anche al Babylon International in Iraq. Nel 1995 un nuovo album: UN SOLE CHE BRUCIA, che avvicina gli AFRICA UNITE anche alle radio commerciali, quindi ad un pubblico più ampio e recettivo. Un nuovo tour accompagna questa nuova tappa della carriera degli AFRICA UNITE, che precede una nuova importante fase: il passaggio dalla Vox Pop alla Black Out/Mercury, quindi alla major PolyGram. Il frutto di questo nuovo ed importante sodalizio è il nuovo importante lavoro degli AFRICA UNITE: un album live, intitolato IN DIRETTA DAL SOLE, che testimonia l'enorme crescita tecnica ed espressiva del gruppo, nonché, la sua incessante attività live. Nel 1997 esce un nuovo album, intitolato IL GIOCO, realizzato in collaborazione con Mad Professor, mentre nel periodo successivo Mada si dedica al suo album solista DA SHIT IS SERIOUS e Bunna al lavoro con Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters. Il gruppo torna in azione nel 2000 con VIBRA, mentre l’anno seguente 20 costituisce una doppia celebrazione: il ventennale della scomparsa di Bob Marley e il ventesimo compleanno degli Africa Unite.
    Nel 2003 il gruppo torna alle sue origini indipendenti pubblicando MENTRE FUORI PIOVE, disco di brani originali distribuito dalla Venus e l’anno dopo la raccolta dal vivo UN’ALTRA ORA. Nel 2006 esce CONTROLLI, al momento l’ultimo lavoro discografico degli Africa Unite.

    Africa Unite is a reggae-inspired band born in Pinerolo, near Turin. A new tour accompanies this new stage in the career of AFRICA UNITE, which precedes a major new phase: the transition from the Vox Pop Out Black / Mercury, PolyGram and then to the majors. The fruit of this new and important partnership is the major new work of AFRICA UNITE: a live album, entitled LIVE FROM THE SUN, which testifies to the enormous growth of the technical and expressive, and, his incessant live performances. In 1997 he released a new album, THE GAME, in collaboration with Mad Professor, and in the aftermath of Mada is dedicated to his solo album DA SHIT IS SERIOUS Bunna and working with Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters. The group is back in action in 2000 with vibrato, while the following year 20 is a double celebration: the twentieth anniversary of the death of Bob Marley and the twentieth anniversary of the Africa Unite.
