Douglas Greed - Recombinated (2013)

Düsseldorfs label Combination Records has never been focused on just one style. No chair was big enough, no bench wide enough and no gymnastics ball elastic enough to offer sufficient space for the labels spectrum. No wonder that Douglas Greed found his first base there. After the label shut down, Douglas Greeds early tracks dissapeared. So now we´re pretty happy to bring back his early beats and melodies - all wrapped up in this fine little package.

Douglas Greed was always one of the more interesting minimal house producers, and on Recombinated he shows why he still enjoys that status. "Aenima" starts life as a tribal house groove, but soon slides into a droning, bass-heavy affair, oozing sinister intent. "What Is My Territory" continues in a similar vein before veering into a reflective reverie. Meanwhile, "Schwarzteemagen" in its entirety is a ponderous affair, led by shaking percussion and a bluesy slide guitar. True to form though, Greed keeps his audience guessing till the end, and on "Lopez" brings the EP to a close with grinding, abstract rhythms
