Features 24 bit remastering and comes with a mini-description. A famous set of crossover fusion – one with lots of heavy drums from Alphonse Mouzon, and plenty of sweet guitar from Larry Coryell! This set definitely plays to the rockish side of the fusion crowd, but still has some funky undercurrents too – thanks to lots of bold lines from Cobham, who could easily sit on both sides of the fence at this point in his career! The rest of the group is equally tight, too – and includes the great John Lee on bass, who really keeps things deep, plus Philip Catherine on additional guitar, sometimes acoustic. Mouzon sings on the cut "Reconciliation", but all others are instrumental.
Great fusion recording from Larry Coryell and crew. The musicianship here is absolutely great, each player doing their thing marvelously. The guitar is my main interest on this disc but bass and drums are so solid. Risking being called petty, my only gripe would be the briefness of this CD. The music is so superior I found myself wanting more of the same. Lots more! The first five tracks are straight ahead fusion taking no prisoners. Track six, "Get On Up (We Gonna Boogie") throws a like bit on funk into the mix. The seventh song, "Reconciliation," also features a little funk especially by the bass. Tracks six, seven and eight feature some quasi-vocals by Mouzon. I am personally ambivalent about said "vocals" with the tracks without them were much better. That's just my personal preference. Again about the length of this disc, it almost made me give this album four stars. But the quality of the music on this disc deserved five stars.
