Album first published in 1988 and reissued in 1991 with a study work of Brazilian guitarist and composer Baden Powell de Aquino (Rio de Janeiro, from 1937-2000). Powell was a virtuoso performer and researcher of the guitar which gave a personal way of playing harmonies. He played various musical styles (bossa nova, samba, Brazilian pop music and even ventured into jazz and Latin jazz) always imbued with the spirit of his native country. Alongside other collaborations with internationally recognized musicians (Herbie Mann and Stan Getz) during the 60 worked with poet Vinicius de Moraes managing to create pieces that were true musical classic of the era. This work, also been published with titles like 'Violão em Seresta' and 'Rio das valsas', is one of his very personal creations. Powell, alone with his guitar, plays Brazilian serenades supported by rythmth of waltz in intimate and very elegant versions. There's no waiting for a hint of jazz. It shows a melancholy Powell, who plays in a beautiful, sad and remorseful way. This CD contains so little optimism as beautiful spirituality, but the work deserves to be savored. We are facing the largest contemporary Brazilian guitarist, Baden Powell.
