Extraordinary career-spanning compilation contains all of comedian Allan Sherman recorded output for Warner Bros. Records plus some rarities. The only project missing is 1964’s classical romp with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops, “Peter And The Commissar,” which was issued by RCA.
Absolutely worth a listen.

Allan Sherman – My Son The Box (Box Set) (6 CDs) (2005)
Allan Sherman (November 30, 1924 – November 20, 1973) began his professional career as a comedy writer for Jackie Gleason and “The Steve Allen Show,” and was the co-creator/producer of the hit game show “I’ve Got A Secret.” Sherman’s claim to fame was entertaining friends at parties singing popular songs and recognizable Broadway showtunes but with Jewish parody lyrics. In mid-1962 Sherman performed at a dinner in honor of Warner Bros.’ Jack Warner, who was producing the film version of “My Fair Lady.” Sherman sang his “My Fair Lady” parodies and within days was signed to a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records.
While the record executives at Warners loved his parodies of popular songs, they feared copyright restrictions, huge licensing expenses, and in some cases the ire of the original songwriters, would limit what he could release, so the record executives suggested he take a crack at parodying public domain folk songs. He did not disappoint. His debut album, “My Son, The Folk Singer” (released in October 1962) hit #1 on the Billboard album chart and stayed on the charts an astonishing 51 weeks. The album was still in the Top 40 when his second album, “My Son, The Celebrity” was released in December 1962. That album also hit #1 and stayed in the Top 200 for 47 weeks.
The success of his third album and hit single (“Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh!” issued in August 1963 and peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart), capped an incredible winning streak for Sherman. “My Son, The Nut” was his third gold album in 10 months and “Hello Muddah” won a Grammy Award. “My Son, The Nut” (released in July 1963), which also peaked at #1.
In all, the comedian released nine albums between 1962 and 1967.
