Owner’s Manual is a collection of unreleased tracks, B-sides & remixes from Xavier Boyer, frontman of French indie maestros Tahiti 80. If Nature Girl or Sex Dope & Futebol are gorgeous, contemporary and immediate pop songs, most of the tracks included on this EP have a more experimental feel to them.
"Typically I would work on several versions for each song. For Some/Any/New (released in 2017), I kept the ones that worked together as a whole . That left me with a batch of songs, where I would have recorded an acoustic guitar first, built the song around it… just to get rid of it in the end, creating a lot of space in the music"
Boyer crafted this new set mostly on his own, playing everything save a few overdubs recorded with Some/Any/New co-producer Stéphane « Domotic » Laporte. French artists Ricky Hollywood & My Tiger Side also lent a hand respectively on Ex_Ordinary (808 Version) and Under The Jamaican Moon, a cover from Soft Rock guru Stephen Bishop. Live favorite At Bay was turned into a mesmerizing noise-gospel drone by Montreal Psych Rock outfit, Elephant Stone.
As the title Owner's Manual implies, this set of songs is the perfect complement to Xavier Boyer's earlier solo works and Tahiti 80's catalogue, showcasing the French man's ability as a songwriter.
