"Two brothers (Jeremy & Joe Haynes)… 13 years and 1000 miles apart write, produce, and record a concept album based on Hemmingway's Old Man and The Sea and our relationship with our father, who was a fisherman himself. Probably lost a few of you already with the sheer geekiness of that sentence, but for those who chose to stick around, and happen to be fans of melodic rock music with some powerful but approachable ‘Prog’ leanings…Tracklist:
Writing for the album started in late 2017 over Skype sessions, and the record was recorded over the course of five months in 2018 at The Beat Lab Studios in Salem, NH. Knowing that I wanted to add additional textures to the record such as real violins and violas, choir vocals, additional female lead vocals and real horns/brass, we turned to some amazingly talented musicians and singers around the world to contribute to the arrangements on several tracks.
The story of the Old Man and the Sea is a story of pride…it is a story of redemption… its is a story of friendship… it is a story of loss. Most of all, it is a story of how the stubborn obstinance of a headstrong man brought him to the end of a fraying rope and how sheer determination and pride would bring him back.
Just like MY old man, he’d hold the line until he was goddamned good and ready to let go… and when that time would come, and he was forced to relinquish his grip, he’d do it with a steeled and unwavering resolve."
