This is an album with a difference. If you’re looking for songs that grind, you’ll find them here in the title track, “The Prophets and The Planet” and “The Saints.” If you’re looking for inspirational songs, you’ll find them here in “Die Empty” and “Time Goes On”. But if hot songs are all you’re after you’re going to miss the true gems of this piece. The Prophets and The Planet is not just a collection of great songs, instead it’s one of the few concept albums of its kind. It leads those who care to follow through a deep cavern of truth and expression that stirs up broken dreams and bleeds hope for every life.
Album Theme:
“For every life there is a purpose. For most, that purpose is unclear. This album speaks to those that seek their purpose and dare to live it. Those that find the strength to become or attempt becoming, must be ready to sacrifice much, if not all. The planet will not allow you your destiny. It rejected Him before you and is set on rejecting you.
But they that commit to their destiny and endure to the end find the greatest of all treasures. True Life.”
The album is written in 3 segments, The Cave, The City, The Mountain
The Journey begins in The Cave and as Ryan tells it, it’s the place of obscurity. It’s the place where no one cares who you are or what you have to offer this planet. In the cave you get to hone your skills and prove your heart. Many people die in the cave clutching their gift in the cold dark of what could have been. On the other hand those that do leave only do so when they have proven that God can trust them with the next.
The next is The City. It is here we get our 15 minutes of fame. We get the opportunity to say and do all that God has called us to. The city is very similar to Mars Hill, everyone is listening. It is here we get to leave our life’s message. It’s here we get to magnify Him or betray Him.
And finally in The Mountain, it doesn’t matter how popular you are or how successful you are by the worlds standards. On the Mountain you get to look back and see how God took you through the caves of your life, the cities of your life and how He’s looking after you now. The mountain is the place of forgiveness, restoration and peace.
Ryan Daniel has risen on the Christian music scene as a force that cannot be denied. Seeing him in concert, one recognizes an authority unique among artists that originates from the firm conviction that God has called him to use his music to bring transformation to people's lives.
Called "the Reggae Hip-Hop Sensation", Ryan's reggae-infused style flows naturally from his Caribbean roots, where Hip-Hop had also become an influence. Growing up in this particular time and culture gives Ryan an authentic voice with which to speak to the multitudes that embrace reggae hip-hop worldwide.
Ryan originated from the Caribbean island of Trinidad. He grew up in a family of four boys, he being the oldest. Blessed with having an up-bringing in a Christian home, Ryan developed a love for God and a sensitivity to the Spirit of God from an early age.
In Trinidad, Ryan became a major influence on the Christian dancehall scene. His style and sound is one that defies classification. It's been called, "a steady dose of dancehall over R&B and Hip-Hop grooves".
Ryan was also a student and an athlete. He received the President's Award after he graduated from high school. He then received a soccer scholarship to Waldorf College Iowa and then transferred to Northwestern College. Upon his graduation from Northwestern he received the National Religious Broadcasters' award for Best Student music video.
Ryan Daniel's music has drawn well-deserved attention from many highly respected elements in the music world. In 2006, Ryan Daniel and the Spirit of David was nominated for the prestigious Marlin Awards in three categories; Music Video of the Year, Pop Recording of the Year, and Ethnic Recording of the Year. Also in 2006, Ryan Daniel debuted at #39 on the Billboard Gospel charts, as part of Holy Hip Hop, Volume 3. His smash hit, "One Time", is part of that compilation. Holy Hip Hop Volume 1 was also nominated for a Grammy.
At Life Light Festival, the largest Christian festival in the country, Ryan shared the main stage with the likes of The Newsboys, Rebecca St. James, Go Fish and Audio Adrenaline, Third Day and many others.
In 2004, Christianity Today named Ryan in "The Best of 2004: 10 Independent Artists You Should Know." Also in May of 2004, Ryan Daniel and the Spirit of David took 1st place in the rock category, (not an easy feat since they weren't a rock band!) at Club 3 Degrees in Minneapolis, MN. Club 3 Degrees is presently known as one of, if not the largest Christian club in the country, and were recently featured in Rolling Stone magazine.
Ryan has been a worship leader for over 15 years and presently serves as the Worship Pastor at River of Life Church in Elk River, Minnesota. Being on a Pastoral staff of a church of 1200 people has given Ryan an opportunity to better understand how to minister to God's people, and a clear vision of how the need is great to find creative ways to reach out to those who don't yet know the love and mercy of God. Ryan's music is relevant to a generation of people who need the life-changing power of the Word of God.
Ryan Daniel's much anticipated 2008 album, "The Prophets and the Planet" is picking up steam around the world.
His debut album, "Life in General" was released in 2003.
"I am by no means perfect, so I do not fear failure. What I do fear however, is having to look my Savior in the eye one day and explain why His all wasn't good enough for mine." Ryan Daniel
