This CD reached No. 4 on the British Indie charts and got a rave review in Kerrang magazine. The band opened for Skid Row, Hurricane, Savatage, Jailhouse, Cold Sweat and others. In 1990 PBF got into a major legal battle with the american PBF and ended settling out of court and giving up the name due to legal implications.~ heavyharmonies
Amazing Canadian Glam Metal Album!
I'll keep this short and sweet… This is one of the best cd's in my collection from the 80's-90's. Underrated, and very amazing low-fi indie D.I.Y record that was made with and for the love of music! This would never ever get them any commercial exposure in any modern world but it showcased a glam metal lover's dream and stood for how passionate these guys truly were!
Despite other people's misinformation, they didn't "LOSE" their band's name in a legal battle to that other band that RIPPED THEM OFF. No, the American version of Pretty Boy Floyd that came AFTER this one was a quintessential cliché sellout band who was derivative of everything else at the time. They openly admitted to stealing the name. Tommy Floyd, lead singer, was horrified to find out just a few months after his band poured its hearts out into this first record and getting their names out there, that another band was using the same name and pretending to be its rightful owners. Even worse, they were being backed by a money grubbing soulless major label.
But in a court battle the original owners of the name Pretty Boy Floyd, these guys, gave the name away freely because they felt that it had been disgraced and no longer held any value or meaning to them as a result of what the American PBF's reputation had done to it. They settled and made a nice piece of change 'giving' the name to the other band. But unfortunately only one of the two bands would continue in playing music and living out their dreams and aspirations… The problem was that the original PBF was forced to break up not too much later as they had NO financial backing, couldn't sustain themselves and were obviously going nowhere commercially so they gave it all up. What was left behind are some demos and this amazing record/cd in limited quantities. Very limited quantities… Good luck in finding it ;)sean021122, rateyourmusic
