Again, the folks from Polytoxicomane Philharmonie come up with a totally cool and amazing packaging to go long with their psychedelic space trip music and vibe. This is such an amazing record for sure one of the best that was released in 2009! This band just keeps getting better and better. The opening 14 minute track has all the elements mixed into one that tell you the story of this CD… the jazzy sax, the strange samples, the male and female vocals, and good hard rocking psychedelic rock as well. Fine Animal Gorilla is next and an amazing track that starts with some great guitar work and fades into the next part with a great spacey vibe. It reminds of Gong but this band is doing it’s own unique version of kraut-space-jazz rock. Amazing song. 9½ minutes in length, Spoonful of Majoun has great melodic elements running through the core of the track and a bit of ethnic tinge. This track has many elements to it and really keeps you on your toes. Very complicated stuff. Catwalk for Little Monsters is 13½ minutes and starts with melodica, a melodic vocal but quickly devolves into a psychedelic monster of sorts with great female vocals and a cool keyboard part and a heavy ending. Now onto CD 2! This starts with the 14½ minute track Open Letter to Albert H. As the name implies, it is damn psychedelic and experimental stuff. It starts quite slow and mellow with some nice laid back sax and delay guitar but things start to evolve before your eyes as the LSD starts to take effect… Apollo-Jive between the Moon brings us back to reality with Fishli. This is another quite moody and challenging track with many twists and turns. Onkel plays some mighty fine Hammond that mixes with the guitar noodling in a magical way at the end of this track as they fight and dual. Etude #27 is very far out and leads into the 19 minute Bryad Girl that finishes off this amazing double CD package. It is a more uptempo track with some great guitar and many moods again and great organ flashes, dynamic vocals, and just a general musical workout and triumph.
